Too Hot to Touch / Exposed
Julie Leto
Heat Level: 3 (Sensual)

The spirit of a masked legend lives on…

Art expert Alex Aguilar is an honest man. When he inherits an auction house dealing in shady merchandise, he's desperate to catalog everything before the goods tarnish his sterling reputation. But even if the merchandise isn't exactly hot, his scorching new assistant, Lucienne Bonet, definitely is. Too bad his pesky moral code means he has to keep his hands off…or does he?

Lucienne isn't quite what she seems. She's a thief and she's after a very valuable ring that once belonged to a legendary masked hero…Alex's ancestor. But as Alex deliciously undoes her plans— and her clothes—Lucienne realizes that eventually, her mask will have to come off, too!

Alex Aguilar is an art expert trying to make changes to the auction house he recently inherited. He hires efficient and detailed office manager, Lucienne Bonet, to assist him with his goals. The two work well together and they accomplish a lot but Alex is finding it almost impossible to keep his hands off Lucienne. He wants her badly and he is so close to breaking his own ‘hands off’ policy.

There is a lot more to Lucienne than meets the eye. She enjoys working closely with Alex and has gained his trust. This comes in handy for Lucy because she is really at the auction house under pretense. She needs to get her hands on a ring believed to have belonged to a masked hero. She doesn’t anticipate the feelings Alex stirs in her and it becomes increasingly hard to complete her task.

Alex becomes a bit leery of Lucy’s strange behavior. Strange things begin to happen and the attraction becomes too strong and before either of them is aware, they are caught up in a strong emotional relationship. Slowly, Alex unravels Lucy’s plan and her deceitful past is revealed.

The reasons behind Lucy’s behavior make it easy for me to understand her deceit. The family dynamics between her half brother and her is strong (he is the reason she is stealing from Alex). I don’t want to give too much away. Alex has a bit of family history as well with his brother, Michael. Overall, they must both learn to accept one another for who they are.

The love scenes are hot! I am almost a bit taken back at how steamy the scenes were written. Lucy and Alex share one memorable shower scene where they are barely able to keep their hands off of each other.

The story is a sweet contemporary romance with a touch of suspense and drama. The characters are likeable enough but the story is a bit lackluster because it is a bit slow. The author’s writing style is a bit of telling and not enough showing. I wanted her to make me see why the characters should be together and not tell me. There is also a bit of too much dialogue and inner dialogue from the characters.
