Jason Savage is a security expert who is about to take on a new case. His friend Linc (Wicked Pleasures) calls him to inform him a witness who is about to take the stand needs protection and the trip requires Jason to go to Colorado Springs. This is just the break he needs because there is still some tension at the office between him, Dari and Meg (Reckless Pleasures).
Jason slept with Dari’s girlfriend Meg (Jason and Dari were best friends). This doesn’t occur in this book but in Reckless Pleasures but some of the issues carry over into this book, which caused me to have some reservations about Jason. However, Jason goes to Colorado Springs and is completely taken by the witness, Jordan Crosby.
Jordan has to stay put and out of harm’s way for two weeks before she testify against her ex-boyfriend. She is not particularly happy she has to take the stand against a gun runner or that she has to be around a sexy brooding man without any play between the sheets.
Jason takes his job seriously and he doesn’t sleep around on the job. He makes this very clear to Jordan but she is not the kind of woman one says no to. Being together in her apartment for two weeks with the mutual attraction brewing is pure torture and Jordan plans to do something about it. She just hopes Jason can handle the heat.
For some reason this story feels like a ‘been there, done that’ type of book. There is no originality to the story and that held me back from giving the book a high rating. Jordan and Jason are explosive together once they finally get it on but that is the only highlight of the story. The humor present when the heat is turned off is entertaining enough. The action is minimal and the background story about the case is slightly interesting.
BTW, there is a bonus story inside but I didn’t read it after I got through with this story.
