Wedding Magic
Patricia Coughlin
Heat Level: 3 (Sensual)

A woman with a dream of romance-and some sparkling summer magic.

Incurably romantic dressmaker Sophie Bennet finds her attention divided between the handsome single father of a young bride-to-be, and the mystical appearance of a ghost-bride with a haunting message.

Wedding Magic is wonderful blend of contemporary romance and paranormal. Patricia Coughlin spins a whimsically romantic tale that will satisfy the hearts of romance readers.

Sophia Bennett is one-third of the team at Seasons, a huge and elite wedding planning company. Her role is to make sure that all the weddings they book runs smoothly. She likes her background job, leaving the spotlight to her two stepsisters, Jill and Jenna (aka the J’s).  They have the opportunity to get the social buzz and clout by throwing the most glamorous wedding for the Archers. The only problem is that the bride, Shelby, wants her wedding to be held at Ange de la Mer, a secluded island. Sophie is sent in to convince the owner Owen Winters to use the property but she might have bitten off more than she could chew.

Owen is a reclusive writer trying to escape a painful past. The last thing he wants is a huge extravagant wedding to take place on his property but when he can sense that Sophie can feel the presence of something magical in house, he knows he will need her to uncover the truth. The problem is that he didn’t expect Sophie to dig deep past the pain and straight to the heart.

The bond that Sophie and Owen shares is instant. Though Owen is a bit rough around the edges, he enjoys the softness of Sophie. The two dive in to discover why the ghost-bride is still lingering around the house. The ghost-bride, Ivy, is more determined to destroy the wedding plans. She should have been the one to get married at her dream home and she refuses to let Shelby be the first one to do so.

Ms. Coughlin’s detailed description and play with words, transports readers into her world. The novel is well written. Originally, the story starts off like a contemporary romance but the author throws in paranormal elements with Ivy adding an interesting twist without making it unbelievable. This is a sweet and magical read with bits of humor thrown into the mix.

My only problem is that the author becomes too wordy and detailed in spots as if she is trying to fill in blank portions of the book. The story is a bit predictable but the contents play heavily on my romantic side winning me over. Despite this, Wedding Magic is a great read. I’m placing the author’s backlist on my TBR list immediately.
