Review

Katie Macalister has quite a repertoire of novels under her belt, but this is the first book I’ve read by this versatile author.  After reading It’s All Greek to Me and completely enjoying it, I looked up Katie’s website and was shocked to find an array of titles in many different genres.  Ms. Macalister has not only written contemporary romance, historical romance and a large array of paranormal fiction, she also writes under a pen name for her collection of young adult novels.

In this novel the reader is introduced to Eglantine Knight who is commonly referred to as Harry, and Lakovos Papaioannou, a Greek playboy who happens to be a billionaire.  Harry, who is in Greece acting as band manager for a friend, never expected to find love while on her trip.  Lakovos is a picture of perfection even if his name is ridiculously hard to pronounce.  Harry finds herself quickly falling for the Greek god while dealing with a few oddly charming characters along the way.

Iakovos meets Harry when his sister hires the band Harry is managing to perform at her birthday party.  Just like Harry, Iakovos finds himself enamored with attraction and falling hard and fast in love.  While Harry isn’t Iakovos’ normal type, she is intriguing, infuriating, attractive and giving him plenty of reasons to remove himself from the eligible bachelor list.

This novel is full of sassy yet steamy characters.  The setting is beautiful.  It made me want to take a trip to Greece and find my own rich playboy.  Harry and Lakovos are very different yet highly compatible.  Their relationship is hot and steamy.  Their attraction charts the top of the charts.  The novel has a fairly low drama level, lots of humor and plenty of sizzling and sexy scenes.

I really didn’t care for the characters names in this novel.  Iakovos Papaioannou is incredibly hard to pronounce for Harry as well as the reader.  Harry has a horrible given name and an even worse nickname considering she is a woman.  Though this wasn’t a deal breaker, it did bother me.  I kept getting tripped up while reading because I’d constantly pronounce Iakovos in a variety of different ways.  Every time I read about Harry I had to remind myself that this novel was not about two men.  Harry instantly makes me think the character is male sense I have never known a woman that went by the name.

Aside from this minor aspect, the book was a fun and sexy read.  I enjoyed Katie’s writing.  While she has a few characters that cause some interesting conflict, the novel wasn’t full of conflict and drama.  I enjoyed this aspect because I could concentrate on the hero and heroine and their sexy relationship.  I didn’t feel as if there wouldn’t be a happy ending but instead was able to enjoy how they arrive at their happy ending.

“Do you love me?” she asked.

He grinned and went into the bathroom.

“When are you going to ask me to marry you, you annoying man?” she yelled after him.

He burst into song.  In Greek.  Off-key, of course.

She wanted to scream.  She wanted to throw things at him.  She wanted to spend the rest of her life kissing him.

Dear god, she was way in over her head with him.
