Think you can trust your husband? Think again!

That's what the gossipy types at Erica Bentley's new job say. Even her (multi–divorced) mom agrees. But Erica's sure she knows her husband, Tom, better than that. He says he loves her, and shows it in a million ways. Except…he has been working extra–late these days. And he's been kinda quiet. Even secretive.

Happily married Tom Bentley never thought his head could be turned—until he saw Clara. Her sleek body has him longing, and he can't get her 127" wheelbase out of his mind. That's right. Erica's "competition" is…a car.

The beautiful Buick has Tom completely car–crazy. And Erica's sleuthing is making her just plain crazy. One of them needs to come clean with their newest obsessions, before Clara drives their happy marriage into a ditch!

Review

This was an unusual romance read for me. I would more relate it to women’s fiction than romance. The main characters are Tom and Erica Bentley. They’ve been married ten years and have a six year old son. They own a business called Bentley’s Classic Cars and Tom runs the business while Erica works in the local hospital as a bill coder. She eats lunch everyday with a group of women that are incurable gossips.

Tom meets a woman named Guffy who owns a classic Buick that she wants him to work on so she can sell it. Tom falls in love with the car at the same time one of his employees begins to have an affair. He learns of the affair and promises not to tell. Tom starts to work overtime working on the classic Buick.

Erica and Tom have a great love life and are very happy until Erica starts to believe Tom is being unfaithful. She listens to the gossips at work and thinks the changes in Tom’s behavior are related to an affair. She has no idea he’s fallen for Guffy’s car named Clara. Erica begins to investigate what Tom’s doing.

I don’t want to give away any of the plot points so I won’t go any further with the summary. This is a good little read. It’s a quiet book with not a ton of action but it’s a nice story of married love and what a lack of communication can do to a relationship.

While I enjoyed this one, I wouldn’t re-read it but it takes a lot for me to re-read any book. I think if you like books by Jodi Picoult, you’ll like this one. Like I said in the beginning though, this is a departure from your normal romance since the main characters are already married with a child. If you’re looking for the “fall in love” moment, this one is not that story.
