Review
Jared is stung by the betrayal of his girlfriend and he is heading down a slippery path of destruction. Sure, he has a great career, good looks and good friends but he can’t get over the past. When he meets the new choreographer for his team’s cheerleading squad, he can’t help but think his luck has changed.
Chyna McCrea is on a mission. She is about to finish school and is gunning for a promotion at her job. Her dream to open her own dance studio is getting closer now that she has taken a job as the choreographer for the Sables. Each penny she's worked for will get her closer and she is not willing to let anything come between her and her goals. The problem is that she's attracted to football player, Jared Dawson, and he is not taking no for an answer.
There is absolutely no wow factor. The story is rather predictable and the sparks takes some time to fly at the readers. Chyna’s hang-ups about money and her independence help with the lack of chemistry in the beginning of the story. While I initially admired those qualities in Chyna, I began to despise them. It doesn’t matter how much Jared tries to tell or show Chyna that is he is not all about money or only wants sex, she fights him to the end. It became frustrating and I wonder why Jared would want to be with her.
The ending of the book wraps up too easily and falls flat. As an avid romance reader, I love a HEA, but I do want to believe the couple don't fall into it so easily. The two have issues and a few obstacles so an “I’m sorry” doesn’t make it all right in my world. It is almost as the author just wanted to end the book. I believe an epilogue would have helped the ending. I did enjoy the secondary characters and I can’t wait to know about a few of them.
