Review
Snowbound with the Notorious Rake is the perfect book for a cold, winter night.
When Rose Westerhill finds herself stranded during a snowstorm with one of London’s most notorious rakes, she had no idea how much her life will change.
I really enjoyed this book. The writing flows well and the romance is sweet.
Lawrence and Rose have to fight for their relationship throughout the book. Even though they have some large obstacles, their attraction to each other is strong and can overcome much. They face complications from Laurence’s reputation and Rose’s past marriage to someone who abused her trust. They spend one magical night together and then Rose makes Lawrence promise to never come after her and to never see her again.
Along with the romance there is a mystery to solve. Lawrence shows back up in Rose’s life while investigating a sinking ships history and trying to find out exactly what happened to the ship. I loved that the reason he comes back isn’t because he believes she can’t live without him or some misguided thought that he knows what is best for her. He does jump at the first chance to see her, but until that point he respected her wishes to be left alone. It shows strength of character, that he and Rose didn’t know he possessed.
Snowbound with the Notorious Rake is exactly what a Harlequin Historical should be: A sweet and romantic story sure to make the reader sigh when the couple finds their happily ever after.
