Trey March is back to claim what is owed him. After being dragged by a horse and left to die, he has no desire to linger at JDB ranch and he certainly doesn’t want to see the woman who caused all his pain.
Daisy Barton was brought up a lady but since the passing of her father she has been in charge of JDB ranch. She has no clue what to do and with the drought, the ranch is suffering. The last person she expected to see was Trey March. He had just left suddenly one day, taking her heart with him. Now he’s back and she needs his help.
The chemistry between Daisy and Trey is electrifying. They are both wary of each other and refuse to bring up the past. Then things start happening and they are forced to trust each other. As they open up to each other, they are forced to face their past and see that everything is not what it seems.
Trey is one of those strong, silent types of men and who can resist that? He is a loner and a drifter and doesn’t let anyone get close to him. When Daisy came into his life, he was immediately taken with her but knew he wasn’t for her. The more time he spent with her, the more he realized that she was different. He never knew love and doesn’t believe in it but he knows that he feels something for her.
Daisy is one of those heroines who is strong and feisty but retain a certain vulnerability. It’s usually hard for me to get behind a heroine but I loved Daisy. She’s not willing to back down from anything and she’s able to admit when she’s in over her head. She refuses to give into Trey’s logical reasons that they marry and decides to hold out for his love.
Cowboy Come Home is set in West Texas in 1895. It’s refreshing to see a historical romance set somewhere other then England and I enjoyed it.
There is a lot to take in though. There are bad guys, then more bad guys and then a crazy backstory that unfolds as you read. At times it can almost be overwhelming but I found myself pushing through because of Daisy and Trey.
If you are a fan of high paced westerns then give Cowboy Come Home a try.
