Outspoken and independent, Lady Alexa Bingham enjoys the heady freedom of making all her own decisions, even though the challenges of overseeing her family's country estate are daunting. But when a chance encounter with London's most notorious rake awakens a secret longing for adventure, she accepts her aunt's invitation for a Season in Town . . . only to find that breaking the rules of the ton has serious consequences.

The Earl of Killingworth uses his rakehell reputation to hide the fact that poverty has forced him to work for a living. As the owner of a gambling den and brothel, Connor has no time for glittering ballrooms or innocent young ladies. But after a reckless wager leaves him with a new business partner, he is forced to take a risky gamble . . . Will the cards fall in their favor? Alexa and Connor begin to play a dangerous game of intrigue and deception as they seek to outwit a cunning adversary who wants to put them permanently out of business. But if they are not careful, it is the flames of their own fiery attraction that may destroy them.

Review

Was she wicked to want this?

Oh yes…Oh, no.

As the earl’s big broad hand found the slit in her drawers, Alexa’s breath was suddenly sucked from her lungs.  And with that went all reason, all restraint.  All rules.

For Lady Alexa Hendrie, happiness is her life in the family’s country estate where she can be her outspoken and independent self.  Alexa, who is used to the freedom of the family estate, finds herself catapulted into a vastly different yet intriguing world when her brother’s reckless nature forces her to move to London.  Her first encounter with Connor Linsley, London’s most wicked rake, sets her ablaze and ready for adventure, even if his kisses are too wicked.

Connor Linsley, Early of Killingsworth, is known for his wicked reputation as a rake.  Connor, who has used his reputation to ward off innocent young women and most of all their mothers, has successfully kept himself off the marriage market, until now.  As hard as he tries, nothing he does can turn Lady Alexa away.  Though, after their first kiss, Connor isn’t quite sure he wants her to.

Both characters are overtaken by a wild passion and threatened by the deception that surrounds them.  Danger follows Connor and Alexa at every turn, threatening to rip them apart and ruin them.  Only time will tell what will take place in this fiery and intriguing romance that manages to be sexy as well.

What woman doesn’t want a bad boy?  I find myself irresistibly drawn to rakes and the lucky women who snag them.  Of course, no one wants a bad boy forever, which is why romance rakes are perfect.  They stay bad in the bedroom while giving up everything else a rake would do for their true love.  Add in family drama, danger and a little mystery and you’ve set yourself up for Too Wicked to Wed.

I really enjoyed Cara Elliott’s writing.  She hooked me from the start.  This romance jumps right in, starting with the prologue.  I was drawn to the characters in this novel.  Alexa is a carefully sheltered young woman in an untraditional way.  When she finally moves to London for a Season, her adventurous and unsheltered side takes hold.  Connor tries anything and everything to put Alexa off, yet he fails.  It’s as if he’s met his match, but will he keep her?

I loved the role of Alexa’s family drama in this novel.  Without her brother’s reckless nature, she most likely would never have ended up in London. This would mean that she would never have met Conner.  The danger that surrounds them throughout the novel kept me glued to the pages with curiosity while the romance kept me waiting for more.  This was an incredibly sexy and romantic read.  It was effortless to read and before I knew it, I was finished.  I would read more by Cara Elliott based on this novel.  I look forward to reading the next installment of The Lords of Midnight series.
