Review
When Dara Rose Nolan’s husband is killed, the small town of Blue River, Texas is left without a marshal and she without a stable source of income. With two young daughters to support, Dara Rose has to reconsider her options. She doesn’t want to sell herself at the saloon or into a loveless marriage, but the arrival of a new marshal forces Dara to make a decision sooner than she would like.
Clay McKettrick, the new marshal of Blue River, is a member of the proud Colorado ranching family. He comes to Texas hoping to start a new life for himself, build a ranch he can pass on to his future children. The last thing this honorable cowboy wants is to uproot Dara and her girls. As soon as he sees her, he knows he wants to make her his wife. Circumstances maneuver them into a marriage of convenience, but Clay hopes to convince Dara it could be a love match.
As with all the McKettrick books, this one is sweet and romantic and just plain adorable. Clay is a cookie-cutter McKettrick—noble, honest, and easy on the eyes. Dara Rose meets every expectation of a McKettrick bride. She’s proud and independent and kind. Her daughters, especially the eldest, really makes this book. They’re pretty adorable and Clay’s interaction with them is too sweet for words.
If you’re looking for sweet, brain-candy read for a nice pre-Christmas evening, this is just the ticket.
