And coming next month, more unforgettable romance in the Cynster Sisters Trilogy

Review

After a brief absence, the Cynster family is back. A mysterious Scottish stranger has decided to kidnap one of the Cynster sisters to avenge an affront to his mother. The problem is – there are five “Cynster sisters.” The first on his list is the eldest remaining unmarried Cynster, Heather.

Heather has decided (in a similar fashion to her Amanda –Cynster Book 8) that she is tired of the boring, tepid affairs held by the ton. She wants a bit of adventure and wickedness. But both she and family friend Timothy, Viscount Breckenridge, get more than they bargained for when she is abducted leaving a scandalous party Timothy caught her at.

Now it’s up to the handsome viscount to rescue her and prove that life with him is all the adventure she’ll ever need. Their journey across the breadth of the United Kingdom takes them all the way to the Vale where Catriona and Richard (Cynster Book 3) are happy to provide insight into married life and the truth of love and partnership.

I won’t lie. This was not my favorite Cynster Book. On the scale of Cynster books, this one fell right around the same place as Books 13 and 14. It was good, but it lacked some of the spark and sparkle of the earlier books. Given the plot, I went in expecting something on par with the Black Cobra Quartet and I was a little disappointed.

Heather and Timothy are everything I’ve come to expect of a Cynster heroine and hero, but no more than that. I felt like their relationship was sacrificed a little for the sake of the overarching plot of the trilogy. I would have liked a bit more of a foundation for how they knew each other prior to meeting up at the party. It took me almost the whole book to catch on that Timothy was a friend of Caro and Michael’s from Book 11. Just a few more details would have made a world of difference for this story. That being said, it was nice to catch up with Richard and Catriona and their precocious children.

While this book wasn’t all that it could have been, I think this trilogy has a lot of promise. I can’t wait to see what trouble Elizabeth and Angelica cause for their would-be kidnapper.
