Real Vampires Don't Wear Size Six
Gerry Bartlett
Heat Level: 4 (Hot)

For a vampire, losing weight can be hellish-from the national bestselling author of Real Vampires Hate Their Thighs.

After Glory St. Clair kicked out the demon that had set up shop in her body, she had a serious fallout with longtime lover Jeremy Blade. But before Glory can win him back, she has some issues of the hellish variety to deal with.

When Lucifer himself offers Glory the ultimate temptation-work for the devil and he'll make her a size six-the curvy vampire's not sure if she can resist. But what Glory does know is that somehow, she's going to get back the man she loves and show everyone that real vampires always have more to love.

Glory St. Clair thought she was done with demons after exorcising one that took over her body. The whole experience has her romance with Jeremy Blade, her sire, on tenterhooks, and it appears that the demons aren’t finished with her yet.

Since the demon possession, the local vampire council has put her on the naughty list. Removal involves mentoring a new vampire, whiz kid, Penny Patterson.  As if teaching a newly turned vamp to control bloodlust isn’t enough, a couple demons are pressuring her to start working for Lucifer, gathering the souls of immortals by offering deals. Glory isn’t willing to bite, even when the promise of her commitment would put her back in a size six. While the idea is appealing, Glory would rather patch things with Jeremy and solve the half a dozen other problems she has dropping on her doorstep.  Temptation aside, the threats to her friends from the demon posse are real, and Glory has to make decisions when it comes to love and being true to whom you are.

Honestly, my little blurb barely covers all the happenings in Bartlett’s latest. This is the sixth book in the Real Vampire series and the first one I have read. I will say that the story is easy to follow, even though there are a lot of reoccurring characters and the story line appears to pick off shortly after book 5. It didn’t take long to get into the story as Glory’s character is naturally eclectic and spunky. Plus Bartlett does an excellent job of filling readers in on the little details about Glory’s relations with each character and previous situations; without going over board and getting too involved.

What I really loved about this book is the three guys warring, in different ways, for Glory’s affection and love. They don’t blame Glory for her obvious and previous attractions; instead they punish each other. Honestly who wouldn’t want a hot vampire, sexy shapeshifter, and a gorgeous vamp rock star pining over you? Like in this little snippet where all 3 men are in the same room as Glory:

“Come in, Rafe.”

“What is this?” He looked from a glowering Jerry to a grinning Ray. “An ambush?”

“No.” I put my hand on Jerry’s chest and felt the rumble of a barely suppressed growl. “Not at all.” I stared up at his frowning face. “Jerry, maybe you should head home and take your shower there.”

“Not likely.” He smiled suddenly when he saw Rafe sniffing the air and obviously picking up on something that caused a furrow between his own dark brows. I’d showered off my hint of sex, but Jerry reeked of me and how we’d made love the night before. Ray had probably noticed, but no longer cared enough to even give me grief about it.

“Glory and I have business to discuss. It’s none of yours.” Rafe shut the door behind him. “I believe she asked you to leave.”

“I’m going to have to tell him what’s going on, Rafe. No more secrets.” I felt Jerry’s hand slide into mine. Possessive. I understood and accepted it.

“He’s going to blow a fuse.” Rafe glanced at Ray. “And what the hell is he doing here?”

“I’m here for the show. I can’t wait to see how Glory keeps the two of you from killing each other.” Ray sat up, looking more alert by the minute.

From there it gets even better. With plenty of alpha men vying for Glory’s affection you can’t help, but get dragged into the story.  My issues with this story are few. One is that there are a lot of reoccurring characters, and Bartlett does an excellent job at getting you acclimated to everyone but at times I felt a little left behind on some inside jokes shared between Glory and others.  The other issue is the ending seemed to be a little neat and tidy and Glory seems to rely on the men to do most of her dirty work. I would have liked to see Glory wield the sword for once and tough it up a little.

Overall, if you’re looking for a humorous, refreshing take on vampires Real Vampires Don’t Wear Size Six is the book for you. My caveats are more personal then truly detrimental. Though, I would recommend reading the previous titles before launching in on this one. I truly feel that Glory’s series needs to be read from book 1 on, instead of jumping in at the middle.
