Arik Wagner, a soldier with the U.S. Army's paranormal unit, the R-XR, kissed a girl and liked it. And then he went to hell as punishment. Where he's spent weeks being tortured...and plotting revenge.

Limos, Horsewoman of the Apocalypse, isn't your average girl. She's immortal, dangerous, and her fiancé is Satan himself. In a moment of weakness, she gave in to her desire and kissed Arik, triggering her fiancé's wrath - and his claim on her. Review

Airk just wanted a kiss, one kiss…

Unfortunately he decided to kiss a horseman, Famine, known as Limos. For his lustful moment he’s punished by Limos’ fiancé, Satan, with imprisonment in the demon realm of Sheoul. Tortured day and night, his one desire is to break free and exact revenge on Limos for causing his condition. Yet when he miraculously escapes, all his plans for revenge seem to shrivel and die. Now his biggest concern is making sure that the people who want to kill him and Limos don’t end up winning.

Limos has always been cautious of becoming too familiar with anyone. She’s been taught to hate, lie, and cheat. Only in the last several hundred years has she come to care for others, mainly her brothers. When Airk kisses her it awakens a lustful fire she can’t extinguish. His imprisonment devastates her and she’ll do just about anything to get him out of Sheoul. When her evil brother, Pestilence, offers a bargain for Airk, Limos reluctantly agrees. Secrets are just as bad as lies though, and as Limos secrets are revealed she’s not sure if she’ll still hold Airks regard or lose him forever.

Immortal Rider is Ione’s second book in this series, and while I found the story easy to get lost in there are a ton of details. This is not a typical paranormal romance, as there are many dark elements. At times the battles and descriptions can be a little graphic. Not a bad thing in my opinion, but some may be turned away by this. The book doesn’t always give happy feelings and there were moments I believed that there was no way possible anyone would get a happy ending.

My biggest issue was that I was left with more questions by the end of the book then answers. Another big problem for me is that I had a difficult time believing in the validity of Limos and Airk’s attachment. On one hand Limos seems to be involved whole heartedly because Airk challenges her in ways that she never expected. On the other, I don’t believe there is sufficient time for them to form their attachment, and some of the details just didn’t ring true to me. Honestly I found myself more interested in the other characters and subplots of the story.

Immortal Rider is a good read, but I’m looking forward to Ione’s next installment. If you’re a fan of paranormal romance and action, then this book would definitely be one to check out.
