Review

Party of Three is a hot, hot novel with some moments that I questioned as a reader.  It started at the very beginning when Ethan announces to Mira that he’s giving her a threesome for her birthday. And the threesome wouldn’t be with just anyone. It was with Rogan Wolfe – her ex-boyfriend and all around bad-boy. I don’t know any woman who would be okay with that kind of surprise, but Mira goes along with it…sort of. There is a lot of introspection and thinking for all of the characters, but Mira is constantly asking herself questions. Will Ethan think she’s a slut? What were the feelings she was having for Rogan? Was this going to damage her relationship with Ethan? I would think an intelligent person would realize these questions she kept asking herself meant that she wasn’t one hundred percent behind her “present” from Ethan.

The sex scenes are hot and well written. Nothing comes across as too raunchy. I especially liked the scenes when Mira was connecting in a special way with Ethan. There is a lot of staring into each other’s eyes and whispering “I love you”. I didn’t care for the scenes where she focuses solely on Rogan.

The ending is more emotional than I expected from the book. From the beginning the focus had been on the sex and the threesome, but in the end Mira has to decide what she really wants from life and who she wants to spend her life with. I liked that Mira, Ethan, and Rogan were all changed by their weekend. They all realized things about themselves and each other.  No one came away from the weekend unscathed.

I will anxiously await the next book in Ms. Alexander’s H.O.T Cops series, Give Into Me, to see what happens to Rogan and hopefully how he gets his HEA.
