Review

Deborah Robinson grew up on Cavanaugh Island, spending summers with her grandmother.  When Debs husband dies unexpectedly, Deborah moves her children and business from Charleston, NC to Cavanaugh Island.  While taking refuge in the familiar, comfortable and quiet atmosphere of the Island, Deborah attempts to heal from her loss and move on with her life.

Dr. Asa Monroe has been floating from place to place waiting for his doctors without borders application to be approved.  Finally settling on Cavanaugh Island, Asa finds himself anxious to fill his time with anything that will distract him from his loss.  Asa, who lost his wife and son in a car crash, has spent the past year healing, though he’s certain the pain will never end.  Now, Asa finds himself in an enchanting town, full of friendly and passionate residents and one very attractive shop owner.  Torn between his dream and newfound life, Asa must decide if he can love again.

Sanctuary Cove is a quaint story about two people who are brought together by mutual attraction, shared interest and a deep understanding of loss.  Both Asa and Deborah are afraid to love again because they are afraid to lose again.  In addition to their own doubts, Deborah has two children whose lives are impacted by her decisions.  This further complicates an already complicated situation.

I enjoyed this warm and fuzzy, feel good romance though it wasn’t one that stands out to me among the crowd.  It has an interesting story line that kept me reading because I wanted to follow the characters through their journey and discover what would happen in their lives.  However, upon finishing this book I wasn’t left in amazement and can’t say the next book will be high on my to-read list.

If you’re looking for a romance without spicy scenes, this one is perfect.  It has an endearing story with its own happily ever after ending and characters that make you smile, even in you find yourself wanting to rename them like I did.  I’d recommend this book to those who enjoy clean, well developed romance stories.  If you enjoy reading a story with lots of detail you’ll enjoy this book.  The author doesn’t leave you wondering with this one.  When it’s all said and done you’ll feel complete.
