For security expert Garrett King, rescuing a damsel in distress is routine—even if she is a runaway princess. And especially if she's a sexy, desirable woman he intends to keep very, very close.

Garrett knows Princess Alexis escaped her castle to look for independence and true love—and she thinks she's found it in him. But he's no white knight. As a bodyguard, he's been covertly hired to protect her during her adventure. As a confirmed bachelor, he doesn't do happily ever after…but one kiss from a princess could change everything.

Review

Garrett King can’t believe he is being dragged to Disneyland, surrounded by a bunch of screaming kids and cheerful families. He loves his family but the idea of spending a whole day in Disney is not his idea of fun. He is desperate to find a way out of here. Luck turns in Garrett’s favor when he runs into Alex, a fun, easy-spirited woman who makes him want to enjoy his day at Disney. However, there is something about Alex that Garret can’t figure out but he’s hoping to find out more.

Princess Alexis of Cadria is excited to be in the same place that her mother had been when she had fell in love. She believes she can discover her independence and possibly find a bit of romance. Alex hopes not one discovers her true identity because her newfound world of happiness and discovery will come to an end. She has the most amazing time when she meets Garrett and his family. Lucky for her, Garrett refuses to leave her side.

Once Garrett realizes that Alex is no ordinary woman but a real live princess, he goes into protective mode and secretly play bodyguard to her. Each moment that he spends with Alex, leaves Garrett feeling guilty for not being honest with her. However, he knows the danger that exists for a wealthy woman being out in the world alone. Years ago, he experienced the loss of a client he had fallen for and he refuses to let anything happen to Alex.

When Alex discovers Garrett’s deceit, she becomes furious. While her anger is justified, in my opinion, she lets him get away with it too eagerly. The two have another fight or two, which the two forget about once one of them, touches one another. There is no real angst except Garrett refusing to own his emotions until the very end.

Overall, this is another good addition the Kings of California series. The children add a hint of fun and I almost want to see how they turn out, especially Mia. Most importantly, I look forward to Griff’s story.
