Ali doesn't do reckless, and she certainly doesn't do one-night stands—until one intoxicating night with the most lethally attractive man she's ever laid eyes on.… More shocking still, when Ali meets the lawyer holding her career in his hands a few days later—it's the same hot guy!

The legendary Max Sherrington knows even his vivid memories of Ali could be defined as inappropriate conduct! Protocol may forbid him from touching her—but just because they can't break the rules it surely doesn't mean they can't bend them a little.…

Review

Ali’s life has been turned upside down and she doesn’t know what will make her feel happy again.  She’s had a rough year and she’s just trying to get through the day. Her best friend and new boss knows just what Ali needs… she needs a man.  Ali doesn’t agree with her until she meets Max at happy hour on a Friday night.

Max Sherrington has also had a bad year.  The night he meets Ali is the day his divorce is final. The last year has been hell, but he’s just not ready for anything more. However, there is something about Ali that pulls to him.

They have one night together that transcends anything either had experienced, but come Monday morning they will have to pay for their fun.

There were parts of this book that I loved and an ending  that fell completely flat.

I loved the banter and the attraction between Ali and Max.  They have a lot of chemistry and their first night together is explosive.  When they discover the next week that Max is the attorney representing her hospital in a case it throws a huge curve ball into what they both feel for the other.  They try to stay away from each other, but their attraction is just too strong.  The author does a fantastic job of creating tension between Ali and Max. Their feelings for each other aren’t allowed, it would be unethical for them to be together, but their feelingsfor each other are so well written you can almost feel their struggle.  There are some very spicy scenes where they aren’t even in the same room with each other. The attraction between the two characters is the best part of the book.

The end of the book didn’t work for me at all. Many of the questions – what would happen with the appeal to her case and what would happen with Ali’s medical career – are left unanswered. The happily ever is hard to believe with these basic things unresolved.  It felt as if the book wasn’t finished when I reached the end. I think an epilogue that tied up the loose ends would have helped make this book more enjoyable in the end.
