There Goes the Bride

Delaney Cartwright has it all. She is starting her business, comes from a prominent family and is engaged to a successful doctor. Though she is on top of the world, she is having some serious doubts about her upcoming nuptials and her life. After talking to her girlfriends about the lack of passion in her relationship, she decides to show up at her fiancé’s office for a wild sexual adventure. Instead of surprising him, she shocks Dominic Vinetti, an out of work police officer who sparks an interest within her.

After a serious injury on the job, Dominic is going stir crazy. He is pushing his doctor to get back to work but with little success. Now that his grandmother is putting her house on the market for sale, she has hired a stager to make her house more appealing. Dominic can’t believe his luck when Delaney walks through the door. As the two pair up, passion ignites and Delaney realizes she must make a decision.

I’ve read this book previously and had mixed feelings. However, I picked it back up and enjoyed the story. Delaney’s mother became an interesting character. The back story on her blackmailer and her secrets are a real focus point of the book.  I never really warm up to Delaney because she constantly caves to the pressure of what her society mother wants. Despite the mixed feelings, the writing is excellent, the story flows with lots of humor.

Once Bitten Twice Shy

Tish Gallagher’s luck is running out on her. She has one more chance to build her career as a success photographer. The only problem is that she has been hired to take pictures for the upcoming nuptials of her ex-husband.

Secret service agent Shane Tremont is recovering from an incident after saving the President’s daughter, Elysee. Trying to get over his ex-wife, Shane agrees to marry Elysee, knowing that he doesn’t feel the same way. Things get worst when Tish comes aboard to photograph his wedding and he realizes he still carry feelings for her.

Even though this book is a part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone. While I enjoyed this one, I have a few hiccups with the storyline. I felt as though the Tish and Shane’s relationship could have been rectified earlier on in the book. The “big” misunderstanding is dragged on entirely too long. Once they have a serious conversation, all is well in their world.  Then the reason why Elysee hired Tish seemed weird. It became awkward to read as she tries to throw them together every chance she gets. What did she expect by the end?
