Review

Devon Carter is mustering up the courage to give away his bachelorhood in order to marry Ashley Copeland as a part of a business deal with her father. Devon knows it is a bad idea but the idea of merging his company with Copeland Industries it too good of a deal to walk away. While Ashley is an extremely beautiful woman with a nice and generous heart, she is not the typical society woman he imagined spending his life with.

Ashley is caught up in a whirlwind romance. Devon is handsome, smart and business savvy. He fits in with her family and he is everything she wants in a man. Her dream is shattered once she discovers on her wedding night that her husband never loved her but only used her for a business merger. After a heated brawl, Devon lashes out and explains that she doesn’t fit the mold of a society wife. She is too flighty and not grounded enough. Desperate to prove a point, Ashley vows to become the wife Devon thinks he wants. Will Devon like the new Ashley?

I had a hard time rating this for several reasons. First, the story is predictable. The blurb on the back of the book gives the whole story away. There are no extra surprises, twists or turn. Second, I loved Ashley even though she has grown up sheltered and innocent but I took so long to warm up to Devon’s character. He just couldn’t recognize that his wife was changing everything about herself to please him. Last, the ending is rushed and Ashley forgave him with one conversation of him pouring out his heart.

Overall, a sweet and entertaining read with a nice ending.
