Review

Knowing how sleek and sexy his body is and understanding what it will do for him, Andrew Rossiter has soaked up all he can from the perks of having a beautiful face and sexy physique.  He has shocked the proper, seduced the willing and pleasured the wealthy.  Unfortunately none of these have done anything for his self-worth which is sadly lacking.  However, nothing can change a person in an instant quite like a child.  When Andrew is forced to focus on his young son’s safety after a dangerous situation occurs, his needs being to fall by the wayside as his discretion becomes a replacement for his desire.  That is until…

Miss Gemma Peartree portrays a plain, virginal governess but the truth couldn’t be hidden deeper.  Against all her attempts to quench her desire for Andrew, sparks fly and her hidden past is threatened to be revealed.  As winter settles upon them, the secrets between them become harder to hide and Andrews’s soul mate slowly appears to him kiss by kiss.

What’s better than a Scottish gigolo with a son to protect and the daughter of a courtesan hiding out under the guise of a governess after being ruined by her step-brother.  Her saving grace is the language of Italian which both Gemma and Marc speak but Andrew does not.  Actually, very few of the characters speak the same language which makes the book interesting in and of itself.

The story takes on an interesting look at what passion can do to a couple who is house bound, secretive and devoid of self-worth.  Neither of them knows what a mess they’ve gotten themselves into and that’s before all the sex starts.  This one is definitely steamy, but doesn’t have a real in-depth plot, which works considering it focuses mostly on the secrets Gemma is hiding and their attraction for each other in the midst of parenting and household management issues.  Neither character has much self-worth due to their past, keeping them guarded and detached in many ways.  This story has snippets of humor amidst its dark background.  The characters are seductive, compelling and interesting.

Overall the story is one of redemption; neither character feels worth of love but both find it.  Those who loved Maggie’s Mistress by Mistake, Mistress by Marriage and Mistress by Midnight will love Master of Sin.  I was slightly saddened by the fact that this final book to the series didn’t include Mistress in the title.  Luckily, the book provided everything that made me fall in love with the novels that have come before it.  Maggie is an author you don’t want to miss and this story and series are ones you will want to read sooner rather than later!
