From New York Times bestselling author Tracy Anne Warren comes an enchanting new trilogy about three princesses brought together by fate. This is Princess Emma’s story…

When a royal summons from her brother arrives, Emma knows it’s time to embrace her duties as the princess of a small European kingdom, and marry the man her brother has chosen for her…a stranger she has never met. Instead she does what any self-respecting princess would do—she runs away. All she wants is one week in London. One week to experience everything life has to offer, before she is locked away in a loveless marriage forever…

Former naval captain Nick Gregory has inherited a title he never wanted. As the new Earl of Lyndhurst, he chafes against his landlocked existence—until fate brings a mysterious young beauty across his path. Believing she’s an unemployed governess, Nick offers shelter and protection to the captivating girl, never guessing her true identity.

Emma falls hard for Nick, but knowing they have no future, she flees once more—this time back to her royal responsibilities. But when she and Nick unexpectedly meet again, she learns that against all odds, he’s determined to make this princess his bride…

Series: The Royal Entourage (Book 1)

Review

Ah, the arranged marriage, a long standing tradition in many cultures that has brought discord, intrigue, drama and, of course, the controversial opinions of many.  In this romance, Princess Emma’s story is told.  When summoned by her brother’s royal decree, Emma knows the expectations about to befall her.  As princess, Emma is provided with a husband by way of arranged marriage.  The suitor, chosen by her brother, is a stranger and more of a political choice rather than a love match.  Emma decides she needs to sew her wild oats and experience life before settling down in a marriage without love.  In execution of her plan, Emma runs off to London for a week of excitement and experiences, leaving her responsibilities behind.

Once in London, Emma meets Dominic “Nick” Gregory, a former naval captain who recently inherited a title he doesn’t want.  As the new Earl of Lyndhurst, Nick’s naval days are over, leaving him landlocked and irritable. When Nick and Emma meet, sparks fly, attraction ignites and life is perfect until Emma flees back to her royal life and the responsibilities awaiting her.  However, Nick is not about to let Emma get away that easy and soon Emma discovers just how determined he is to make her his wife.

I love a good romance but add a fairy tale to it and you’re sure to have a delightful read, even if it is a bit predictable and sappy.  That being said, this romance is well written with likeable characters and sweet romance, but it is also predictable and not all that unique in regards to its core storyline.  After all, the prince or princess always falls in love with someone who is of their same stature or class.

Emma is a likeable and attractive character that adjusts her image to fit her surroundings, even when it is hard for her or goes against her natural instincts.  Nick is a rugged and determined character whose personality is lost in earldom.  Both have family obligations and responsibilities to fulfill, though neither of them wants too.  The adventurous spirit they both have is part of what makes them perfect for each other.  Both are characters you’ll find yourself rooting for, even if you’re not completely lost in the story.

Regardless of its predictable nature, this romance is enjoyable to read. It drew me in enough to make me smile at the end. As a bonus, the cover art is beautiful, which is always nice!
