Captain William Langley has been floating through life for the past eight years, working hard to keep his chin up, his priorities straight and his heart in one piece. Unfortunately, the latter has been broken since Meg Donovan, the love of his life, was lost at sea eight years earlier. Will, who discovered the truth of her tragic accident two years after the incident, immersed himself in the ship industry, living life on the sea.  When Will’s ship spots a jolly boat in open water, while searching for smugglers, his life changes forever.

Meg Donovan fell off a passenger ship eight years ago and was never found, at least by the ship she was traveling on.  However, Meg was found by Caversham, a captain and ruthless killer.  Caversham held Meg hostage for his own purposes until Meg escaped the Defiant, his ship, taking Caversham’s most valued possession with her.  Now, Meg has been reunited with the love of her life, but she is in grave danger along with everyone else in Caversham’s path.

Meg’s family is shocked to discover that she is alive.  Her twin, Serena, has been using Meg’s identity for years in order to avoid the scandal brought to her name all those years ago. Now, thrilled that Meg is alive, Serena’s life has become complicated and dangerous. Though her family will stop at nothing to guarantee her safety and put an end to Caversham, they are in a race against time, a race that can only have one winner.

I thoroughly enjoyed Pleasures of a Tempted Lady. The story instantly grabbed my attention, holding it hostage as I tore through the pages. Meg’s story is full of intriguing pieces of a puzzle long overdue for completion.  Meg’s life has been full of pain and struggle since she went missing and found herself at the mercy of a dangerous pirate. Her timid and untrusting nature in this book is understandable, making the story realistic. On the flip side, Will is a hero any woman would love to wrap her arms around.  He is strong, protective, and sexy and has eyes for only one woman. 

The supporting characters in this novel, Jessica and Briggs, also have a small romance to share with the reader. To me, these two were a perfect fit.  I enjoyed reading a secondary romance that fully supported the primary romance in this book.  There are many surprises and lots of mystery hidden within this novel.  While the heat in the bedroom scenes is red hot, there aren’t many to read, making this book all about the story and romantic elements outside of the bedroom.  This small yet important detail made the book even hotter to me. The story builds the reader up to the intense moments between the sheet, making them more satisfying and even hotter than they would be otherwise. This is quite simply a romance you won’t want to miss reading.
