Review
The conclusion of the Cynster sister trilogy is full of intrigue, action, and romance.
After the kidnapping and rescue of both her older sisters, Angelica Cynster is ready for her turn. Not her turn to be kidnapped, but her turn to meet her hero. If she had to be kidnapped in the process she trusted that her hero would find her and all would be well. When she sees “him” across the room she instinctively knows that he is her hero. Angelica’s next step is to find out exactly who “he” is.
I loved how Angelica went after what she wanted. When she sees Dominic across the crowded ballroom she makes sure to gain an introduction to him. Even in the midst of being kidnapped, she doesn’t worry. She trusts her instincts about him and waits to hear what he has to say before worrying.
The connection between Dominic and Angelica is instant and grows deep as they travel from London to his home in the Scottish highlands. I really enjoyed the way that they grow as a couple and learn to trust each other little by little.
My only complaint about the book was the “twist” at the end. From the beginning of the trilogy we knew that the mysterious Laird’s mother was forcing him to kidnap a Cynster female and ruin her. We didn’t know why or what was forcing him to do such a terrible thing. I loved the way it was explained and the reasoning behind his mother’s insanity. What I didn’t love was the secondary threat that seems to pop out of nowhere to add more drama to the situation. It also puts both Angelica and Dominic in harm’s way. It felt like too much and added nothing to the story in my opinion.
The books ends on a wonderful note with all three Cynster sister’s getting their happily ever after and leaving the way open for the next cousin in line. I can’t wait to read more books about this family. They are one of my favorite in historical romance.
