Series: The Return of the Highlanders (Book 3)

Review

Duncan MacDonald would do anything for his friend and chieftain Connor even if it means going to rescue Connor’s sister Moira. Years ago, he loved Moira fiercely but was forced away when her father learned of their affair. Now he is back to rescue the beauty and he will do anything to keep her from harm.

Moira trusted Duncan but she learned the hard way that love is just not enough. Now, her father has forced her into a loveless marriage with an abusive man. The only bright light in her life is her son and Moira must do anything to protect him…and herself.

The action in this story starts relatively quickly. Moira tries to escape her vicious husband when Duncan makes his way to rescue her. Then an incident occurs which leaves them both running for their lives. Moira’s son is stolen and she is hiding a terrible secret.

I love me a highlander story. It definitely makes me feel good when I have a feisty heroine going against a tough warrior. The beauty about this warrior is that he has a tender heart. Duncan is just swoon worthy. J He is known to be the fiercest warrior in their region and yet he tends to Moira in such a sweet and tender way. The way he shows his love for her is remarkable.

Moira has suffered so much and her spirit is a bit broken down. She refuses to follow any man’s rules again. I love her independence and feisty nature. Once Duncan explained why he really left, Moira becomes bitter towards him. I didn’t get the logic behind that. She starts to use him only for sex. It became baffling and Duncan groveled for so long to get her affection. I knocked off a star for that.

Overall, a great story with a nice ending. I can’t wait to read Connor’s book.
