When a mysterious client approaches Abby with a cryptic message about a young mother who has vanished, Abby is more than willing to get involved. After all, it’s the perfect distraction from dealing with the headache of her sister Cat – who has flown into town and turned Abby and Dutch’s impending nuptials into Weddingpalooza.

After Abby recruits her business partner and BFF, Candice, to assist, they meet with the parents of the missing woman. But the parents refuse to put their faith in a psychic. What’s worse, due to a grave misunderstanding, the family suspects Abby has a connection to their daughter’s husband – the man they believe to be responsible for her disappearance.

So while the family may be blind to the truth, with a potential killer in her sights, Abby is determined to keep her eyes wide open...

Review

Psychic Abby Cooper's plate isn't just full - it's overflowing! Abby is recovering from a serious injury from a plane crash, but is still doing regular psychic readings for her clients. She also serves as a consultant on cold cases for the FBI, freelances for the CIA, and sometimes works on investigations with her best friend and office mate, Candice who is a private detective. If that's not enough, she and her fiancé Dutch are getting married in less than two weeks,

With all that going on in her life, Abby isn't looking for another case, but then an attorney comes to her office as asks her to find a missing person. While the police are still on the case trying to find the woman, the lawyer says one of her clients murdered the young mother and it's up to Abby to prove it. Unfortunately, the lawyer can't reveal the client's name due to confidentiality. As Abby gets more involved, it turns out figuring out the identity of the missing woman is the easy part of this unusual and dangerous case.

I have followed this series from the beginning and the best part of these books is when Abby does psychic readings. The author is a professional psychic intuitive, so the scenes showing Abby doing reading are unique and fascinating to read. Luckily, this book has plenty of scenes showing Abby doing reading for clients and to assist her and Candice's investigation. I also really like Abby and Candice's friendship and business partnership. Their talents and personalities complement each other and the two women are always there for each other. Another plus in this installment of the series is Dutch. Dutch as really matured and mellowed since this series began and I now enjoy reading about his relationship with Abby instead of sometimes cringing at his narrow-mindedness and dismissal of Abby's psychic abilities.

The missing person's case that takes center-stage in this book is very interesting and I liked that that the focus is on Abby's own case instead of one of Dutch's. The book does have some flaws and the biggest one is the way Abby's sister Cat behaves throughout this book. The ambitious and super-organized Cat is acting as Abby's wedding planner, but Abby is resisting Cat's demands on her time. The scenes with Abby and Cat fighting about the wedding plans start out silly with Abby running out the door to avoid meetings with her sister to discuss the wedding. Later, Cat has her own way of getting some of Abby’s time. Although Abby gives Cat the benefit of the doubt, the drastic measures Cat takes are unbelievable and would be unforgiveable to me. These scenes were bad enough to detract from my enjoyment of this otherwise wonderful book.

In spite of the antics between Abby and her sister, Lethal Outlook is a great summer read with a mystery that grabs your attention and never lets go. The book is a great choice for fans of the series and anyone who enjoys a unique character with a touch of the paranormal.
