But just one night with the wickedly sexy Aegis Guardian, ReganCooper, shatters centuries of resolve. Yet their passion comes with a price. And Thanatos must face a truth more terrifying than an apocalypse-he's about to become a father.

Demon-slayer Regan Cooper never imagined herself the maternal type, but with the fate of the world hanging in the balance she had no choice but to seduce Thanatos and bear his child. Now, as the final battle draws closer and his rage at being betrayed is overshadowed by an undeniable passion for the mother of his child, Thanatos has a life-shattering realization: To save the world, he must sacrifice the only thing he's ever wanted-a family.

Review

Death is smokin’ hot… and bent on a little revenge.

Thanatos is pretty pissed at everyone for keeping him locked up for the last several months. A lucky break sets him free and he’s on the hunt for the woman who made him that angry. Regan Cooper spent one night with Thanatos, stealing his virginity and his future, now she can only pray that the baby she carries will be enough to deter him from taking any action against her. Thanatos is not up for killing, but seeing Regan again sparks some serious lust and desire for things he’s always tried to distance himself from.

This one is my favorite in the series by far! After reading this book I highly recommend that if you haven’t read a book in this series then you need to purchase the companion guide before jumping in. There are so many details, and my previous experience reading book 2 in the series helped me navigate the waters this time. Dialogue and actions sequences are always strengths for Ione and do not disappoint in this book as well.

I really liked Thanatos in the 2nd book of the series, which was my introduction to him, honestly this book didn’t let me down. Thanatos can be wicked mean when we wants to be, stubborn and just all-around alpha—until his sweet side comes out when he cares. Based on what happens in the book you’d better hope he cares. Ione is wicked with character development, and Thanatos has got deep seated issues and desires that made me go ‘awww’.

I liked Regan too. She’s the career woman, so devoted to her career because she has no family, friends or anyone who cares. The baby she’s trying to ignore is slowly tugging away at her heart strings, and Thanatos wanting to be the daddy in truth, rather than just in name, doesn’t help things. Ione sure makes some warped heroines and Regan is no exception. She carries a ton of secrets, but one thing Ione is good at is timing. She can build tension in the appropriate places and knows exactly when to drop the bomb.

Thanatos and Regan make a good couple because they have the ability to heal each other, and bring elements to that are lacking from the other. Don’t get me wrong, they try to fight the attraction, and sure it’s a bit crazy since I knew they just needed to do the nasty and get over it. But the buildup is worth it, again Ione knows her way around having things happen at the right moment. Also, Ione did a 360 for me. Immortal Rider was an extremely dark book with little in the way of success and happiness. Lethal Rider finally has some light at the end of the tunnel, which I think will excite fans of this series.

What I didn’t enjoy—secondary plot devices that made no sense. Some of the secondary characters did a ton of things which made me go ‘hmm’.  Again, I felt this was filler and while the interactions ultimately had something to do with the final conclusion/climax the scenes did not portray characters true to their intelligence and strengths.

Overall, series fans will be delighted and I think this book will be the fav of the series. There’s one more story to go and now that Ione has recaptured my attention I’ll definitely be reading.
