SWEPT AWAY

Searching for a sunken ship off the coast of Peru, treasure hunter Logan Cutter manages to pull a very different kind of prize from the sea—beautiful gallery owner Daniela Rosada. Dani claims she was thrown overboard by ruthless pirates and begs for his protection. But Logan is no strnager to a woman's lies, and something about her story doesn't add up.

IN TOO DEEP

With her knowledge of Peruvian artifacts, Dani offers to help Logan translate an ancient map that will lead them to a shipwrecked treasure—and into a carefully laid trap. But the closer they get, the deeper she falls for him, not realizing that Logan is hiding a secret of his own. By the time she learns the truth about his boat, his brothers—and his blood feud with pirates—it’s too late. By falling in love, they’ve set a course for disaster…

Review

I haven’t read a book by Cherry Adair in what seems like ages. Though I haven’t read the other two books in the series, I still wanted to see if I would enjoy her books as much as I use to. While this book has it moments, it is probably one of the weaker books that I have ever read by her.

The book starts off interesting enough when Logan rescues a kicking and fighting Danielle from the water and brings her onto his boat, Sea Wolf.  Once she is safe, Logan begins his interrogation of her, wanting to know how she ended up in the middle of the ocean with no boat. Danielle quickly feeds him some lies about amnesia but Logan doesn’t buy it. Since Logan is a no-nonsense kind of guy, he plans to get down to the bottom of it.

Danielle’s cousins threw her overboard their ship with the hopes she could make it to the Sea Wolf. Her main goal on board the ship is to lead Logan to another ship with a possible map that is in Logan’s possession. Once there, the cousins can salvage any valuables on the ship.

Sounds interesting enough? That’s what I thought until nothing happened for a while. The story came to a screeching halt! Danielle spends the first half of the book by herself with Logan’s dog (who they named Dog). Since she is almost always alone she has no one to have any dialogue with but her self.

Eventually the story picks back up and Logan and Danielle begins their adventure while trying to escape a villain who gave me the creeps a bit. Despite the story picking up, I lost most of my interest in the characters, especially Logan. He is very hot one moment and cold the next. The beautiful exotic setting and hot guys on Logan’s ship along with a romance and mystery should have been the perfect ploy to make this book better but instead they aren’t played up their potential in this book and the story falls short all the way around. I’m hoping to have better luck with the first two in the series.
