THEY’D DO ANYTHING FOR COUNTRY.
AND EVERYTHING FOR EACH OTHER.

After a dark ops malfunction, Major David Berg finds himself dead center in a military trial. It’s a race against time to root out the truth, and Major Sophie Campbell isn’t making that any easier. The hot JAG wants to bring down David’s unit and fast. His testimony is crucial to winning a case that will make her career. All Sophie has to do is ignore this witness’s unflappable charm, his unnerving good looks, and a strong, solid presence that commands her attention.

It’s not easy for David, either. His attraction to this take-charge beauty is turning him inside out. But these adversaries have more in common than secret, mutual desire. There’s a traitor somewhere in the dark ops and now, to find him, David and Sophie must work together—relentlessly, tirelessly, and so intimately it could be damn near fatal.

Review

He will guard her body, but can he guard his heart…

Major David “Ice” Berg has been through relationship hell and doesn’t want to go through it again, but when he’s being question by the very sexy JAG Major Sophie Campbell he has trouble remembering why. Sophie won’t put herself through a relationship with another adrenaline junkie and that’s exactly who she thinks David is, but she finds his caring and flirty demeanor hard to ignore. When someone breaks into her house and tampers with her car, there is only one person she wants to help her keep her and her family safe – David.

This couple throw sparks off of each other from the first page and although they are on different sides of the case that Sophie is working on, she knows David is a good enough man that she trusts him to work with her to find the right answer to what happened instead of just trying to figure out a way to clear his friend. I really enjoy the way they put aside their attraction to find out who was in the wrong and who was trying to hurt Sophie. They don’t consummate their relationship until something very bit happens between the two of them and it is more life affirming than romantic.

There is enough action and mystery in the story to keep the reader interested, but is overshadowed by the romance. There were times when it seemed that the characters had forgotten there was someone out to hurt Sophie.

The writing and dialogue between characters is well done and entertaining. The relationship that develops between two characters who are both gun shy and afraid to love again, but learn that life is short and worth taking the risk is very well done.
