Before Peter Pan belonged to Wendy, he belonged to the girl with the crow feather in her hair. . . .

Fifteen-year-old Tiger Lily doesn't believe in love stories or happy endings. Then she meets the alluring teenage Peter Pan in the forbidden woods of Neverland and immediately falls under his spell.

Peter is unlike anyone she's ever known. Impetuous and brave, he both scares and enthralls her. As the leader of the Lost Boys, the most fearsome of Neverland's inhabitants, Peter is an unthinkable match for Tiger Lily. Soon, she is risking everything —her family, her future—to be with him. When she is faced with marriage to a terrible man in her own tribe, she must choose between the life she's always known and running away to an uncertain future with Peter.

With enemies threatening to tear them apart, the lovers seem doomed. But it's the arrival of Wendy Darling, an English girl who's everything Tiger Lily is not, that leads Tiger Lily to discover that the most dangerous enemies can live inside even the most loyal and loving heart.

Review

On an island hidden away from the world, where only a select few stumble upon, fifteen-year-old Tiger Lily is not like any girl. She’s quiet, athletic, and she doesn’t believe in love. In comes Peter Pan who shakes the walls Tiger Lily has spent her whole life building around herself. Peter, the leader of the Lost Boys is notoriously known for his bad boy persona among the island’s inhabitants especially, Captain Hook and his band of pirates.

No girl is safe around Peter’s charm. Even the viscous mermaids crave his love; Tiger Lily didn’t though, not at the first time, nor the second, or even the third, but maybe the fourth. Tiger Lily is use to following her head, not her heart. She won’t allow herself to give into the feelings that arise in her for Peter.

If things couldn’t get any worse, Tiger Lily is then betrothed to a fellow villager. She has a choice to make: honor her betrothed or follow the uncertain journey of young love. In the midst of this crisis, Wendy Darling, an English girl with pretty dresses and lady-like manners stumbles upon Peter and the Lost Boys stealing them away from Tiger Lily. Will the first loves prevail or will Tiger Lily be encompassed into a dangerous battle within herself that draws out the evil within her?

Told from the point of view of everyone’s favorite fairy, Tinker Bell; Tiger Lily is a bit of an adventure with just the right touch of romance. Author Jodi Lynn Anderson’s twist to the classic Peter Pan story is genius.  There are Mermaids, Sky Eaters, Fairies, and whatever other creatures a person’s mind can dream up. The plot is expertly sequenced and unpredictable, releasing the right information at the right time and then inserting those moments that the reader doesn’t see coming. The characters are brilliantly developed. The reader gets the urge to jump right in and go pirate hunting with Peter Pan and the Lost Boys and give Tiger Lily’s bullies a taste of their mind.

Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Andersonis simply an amazing read. It’s a perfect story if you want to go on an adventure to a place that only exists in fairytales.
