We all want to be remembered. Charlotte's destiny is to be forgotten.

Charlotte's best friend thinks Charlotte might be psychic. Her boyfriend thinks she's cheating on him. But Charlotte knows what's really wrong: She is one of the Forgotten, a kind of angel on earth who feels the Need—a powerful, uncontrollable draw to help someone, usually a stranger.

But Charlotte never wanted this responsibility, and as the Need grows stronger, it begins to take a dangerous toll on her. And who she is—her very existence—is in jeopardy of disappearing completely.

Charlotte will be forced to choose: should she embrace her fate as a Forgotten, a fate that promises to rip her from the lives of those she loves forever? Or is she willing to fight against her destiny—no matter how dark the consequences?

Review

If you had one wish, what would you wish for? Charlotte Cassidy just wants to be normal. She wants to be able to spend time with her boyfriend, Harlin, uninterrupted. But destiny has bigger plans for her.

Charlotte’s best friend Sarah swears Charlotte is physic. But Charlotte knows the truth; she’s one of the Forgotten, destined to leave behind a trail of good deeds and disappear from the memories of everyone that’s ever known her. At first, it happened just once a year, and then, a few times a year, but now, Charlotte feels the Need several times a week. The Need draws Charlotte to people to help them, but it’s getting in the way of her life and her relationship with Harlin. The Need is slowly taking her away from those she loves to the extent that they don’t remember her. Will Charlotte embrace her destiny as a Forgotten or will she seek out the help of dark forces to be remembered?

A Need So Beautiful by Suzanne Young is equal parts fantasy and romance. Young dives right into the story without dragging it on. The plot leaves nothing to question; Young makes sure that the reader is left on edge at all the right moments.

The characters are exquisite. There’s Charlotte who’s being torn in two different directions: the one she wants and the one destiny has planned. She has to choose between love and saving others, being selfish or selfless, and she just a mere teenager. Then, there’s bad boy Harlin who’s head over heels in love with Charlotte. He comes with his own baggage, and that makes him all the more amazing.

Young thoroughly develops the emotions of the novel. The reader feels for each and every one of the characters, especially Charlotte; they take this life altering journey with Charlotte and when she hurts, so does the reader.

A Need So Beautiful by Suzanne Young is the right novel for anyone craving a journey filled with mystical beings and young love. It leaves you shocked and rooting for a happy ending, it’s definitely worth the read.
