Tall, dark, and lethal...

Trouble just walked into Nicholas Rixey's tattoo parlor. Becca Merritt is warm, sexy, wholesome--pure temptation to a very jaded Nick. He's left his military life behind to become co-owner of Hard Ink Tattoo, but Becca is his ex-commander's daughter. Loyalty won't let him turn her away. Lust has plenty to do with it too.

With her brother presumed kidnapped, Becca needs Nick. She just wasn't expecting to want him so much. As their investigation turns into all-out war with an organized crime ring, only Nick can protect her. And only Becca can heal the scars no one else sees.

Desire is the easy part. Love is as hard as it gets. Good thing Nick is always up for a challenge...

Review

Laura Kaye delivers a non-stop rollercoaster ride full of action and suspense with her new series.

Emergency room nurse, Becca Merritt, is not sure who to turn to when her brother goes MIA. However, everything leads her to Nick Rixey’s tattoo parlor. He was a member of her deceased father’s team and Becca figures he could help her.  Depending on him is scary but Becca has no choice. It doesn’t help that she is lusting after him as well.

Nick Rixey is starting his life over after his military career ended with a dishonorable charge. He blames his former commander for the whole event that killed some of his team members and ruined their reputation. When Becca comes into his parlor, he is tempted to toss her out but there is something about her. When her place is ambushed, he kicks into gear to rescue her.

The more they delve into what happened to Becca’s brother, the more Nick realizes that there might be a connection to his military past. He calls in some more of his team members for help. Despite the fact that they are reluctant, these guys come in full of energy and oozing male sensuality. I love the interaction between these take charge alpha males. The author does a good job on setting up characters for future books in the series.

This is a great start to a fun series. This is not my first book by Ms. Kaye and I was super excited to read this one. Ms. Kaye carefully combines the allure of the edgy tattoo/ink world with a dangerous military background. It’s an interesting concept but I like guys with ink and of course I love a military bad ass J

The story moves quickly with some quirky dialogue. Nick and Becca try to fight their attraction but lust ultimately takes over. There are some sexy scenes between the two causing tension to rise. I definitely would recommend this series to fans of the romantic suspense genre.
