Join the Sassy Belles this holiday season—it's Christmas, Southern-style!

With her hair perfectly coiffed, nails freshly manicured and a heavy trail of perfume wafting behind her, local news reporter Dallas Dubois is sure she's about to kick her career—and maybe her love life—into high gear. The director of the Tuscaloosa children's Christmas play has fallen ill, and Dallas is ordered by her station manager to take the reins. Everyone is shocked—especially Cal Hollingsworth, who still remembers her as the Ice Queen from high school.

If nothing else, Dallas has never met a challenge that a little lip gloss and a Chanel knockoff couldn't fix. But she has no idea how to relate to these kids, and their brutal honesty is giving her pause. Things are made even more complicated by the butterflies she gets whenever Cal is near….

But when long-lost family members reenter her life, Dallas's icy veneer begins to melt. And with Cal by her side, she soon realizes that it's what's under all the hair spray that counts.

Sexy Southern fun…with a hint of magnolia!

Review

What a cute little story about some quirky and sassy southern belles! I absolutely adored this book and I look forward to going back to find out the background history about these fun characters that popped up.

Dallas Dubois is a fun, sexy, sassy reporter for WTAL in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She is known to be sharp-tongued, self-absorbed and sometimes down right bitchy. She is trying to reach for further opportunities at her station and when an anchor position opens, Dallas is willing to do anything to get it. Her boss proposes that she becomes the director for the children’s Christmas play. Dallas hates kids but she wants that anchor position. She plasters a fake smile on perfectly make-up face and plans to wow the town.

Cal Hollingsworth is surprised to see Dallas working with the kids on their production. He knows her as the Ice Queen and her demeanor hasn’t changed much since high school. He is invested in the kids and if he has to be side by side with Dallas to ensure that she doesn’t hurt one of them then he will. However, Cal doesn’t anticipate the feelings he is starting to develop for her.

I’m starting my holiday reading early and I struck gold. Sleigh Belles is witty and entertaining. Dallas is a hard character to like at start. She is so into herself and so nasty to people that you have to wonder how she will ever change. Then you get her back story and your heart breaks. Her family basically abandoned her at the tender age of fourteen over a silly family dispute. She doesn’t fit in with her father and his new family. She is left alone and doesn’t fit in at school. Dallas builds a wall up to protect herself and she is not use to letting go and showing people who she really is.

I liked that Cal is a good guy and when he sees the children starting to worm their ways into her heart, he admits that she might not be such an Ice Queen. A friendship follows pursuit and Dallas finds herself opening up to him about her family. I wanted to pop her mother and brother but they were stubborn as Dallas. Of course, Dallas has to mend other relationships in town but Cal is so supportive and helps her through it while they fall in love.

I liked the cozy feel of the story but I’m mildly upset that we didn’t get an epilogue and I want to know what happened to little Sara Grace. Hopefully, the author will give us a sneak peek as to what happened next.
