Review

Charlie Allington is back in town. The high tech security expert is now working at the new resort. No one knows about her scandal in Tahoe and Charlie is lucky to have this last chance. Her reputation has been tarnished but she is determined to make a fresh start by in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She sets her eyes on her new neighbor, Walker Pearce.

Walker Pearce made a huge mistake that cost him his job. He is scrambling for work but there are not many opportunities for someone like Walker. He is busy sulking in his own rotten luck but little Charlie has plans for him. She makes him feel something and when they are together things get pretty dirty and hot.

I had a hard time warming up to the characters. Charlie is feisty and sassy. She takes on pretty much everyone in the book except her boss. Her work situation is complicated but she handles it pretty well. She constantly tells Walker that they are having this casual affair and that it’s just sex. Then at the end, they are confessing their love and it seemed out of place. I’m glad the author didn’t wrap things up so tidy.

Walker struggles with a learning disability and some family drama. I liked the way he interacted with his brother, Micah. They have real love for one another though they grew up with a tough father who is now dying. Walker’s pain is real and he struggles with forgiving the way his father treated him for having a disability. There are some more secrets that Walker hides and though Charlie pushes him, I’m glad he makes the decision to get help.

Overall, this is an enjoyable contemporary read. I like the small town feel and of course, visiting some of my favorite characters from the past.
