Misbehaving

Genre: Contemporary
Heat Level: Erotic
Rating:

Wanted: Adventurous, open-minded man willing to try…anything…

As a popular sex blogger, Beatriz gets paid to have orgasms. So being on deadline the week of her sister's wedding isn't as rough as it sounds. There's just one hitch: Bea's assignment is to write a review of a sex position manual, but she doesn't have a plus-one to play with.

The good news: Ben, the one who got away back in college, is also attending stag—and he's as temptingly gorgeous as ever.

The bad news: Ben turned down Bea's offer of graduation-night sex five years ago.

The best news: He's not planning on making the same mistake twice….

Review

Reisz provides sizzling erotica with a dash of comedy, a splash of Shakespeare, and a whole bowl of naughty!

It’s no lie that Ms. Reisz is on my auto-buy list and there’s a very good reason—she writes delicious stories. The characters in Misbehaving prove my point. Bea and Ben jump from the page with wit, sensuality, and a level of confidence I wish for in my own life. For the length of this story I was impressed. Nothing was over-done or over-played. There’s even a small side plot/story for secondary characters Claudia and Henry.

Let’s break this down further: the erotica portion is HOT! If you’ve shied away from Reisz before because the intimate relations she wrote about scared you a bit I urge you to pick up Misbehaving. The intimate acts are pretty tame compared to Reisz’ other books. The best part is how Bea and Ben make the experience arousing and fun all at the same time. Their communication skills and their moves work rather well.

Plot, back story, pacing and all the other basic elements are weaved together seamlessly. At no point during the read did a skim paragraphs or feel like I needed to take time to do the dishes. This book was devoured in a very fast hour and a half. It’s worth every penny though because I’ve already re-read it once.

The characters were, as I mentioned earlier, amazing. They jumped from the page and demanded my attention. While I loved all the characters for some reason I fell in love with Henry the most. He’s so simplistic and very one-track-minded. Like in this one moment when he’s talking to his wife-to-be Claudia:

“We’ll see…” she said. “Right now they’re just having a bunch of sex. If they decide to stay together after the week is over, then you’ll be completely out of the doghouse.”

“We can have doggie style while I’m in the doghouse, right?” Henry asked.

“Of course.”

“I might just stay in it then.”  He kissed his fiancée and went back to eating French fries in the most inappropriate ways he could think of.

Those one-liners gave me plenty of smiles, and I’ll admit to getting a few ideas for Valentine’s day from this book.

Overall, this is a great short story and I have to give it a 5 because I’ll be reading it multiple times. While it’s a quick read, there is nothing as refreshing as characters comfortable with sex and their bodies with a good backstory and compelling players.
