Review

Press Secretary Nita Moreno and Fire Captain Jeb Stone had a spark of attraction at their friend’s wedding. There was one tiny problem…he was married and she wass dating the man of her dreams. A few years later, they meet again and the attraction is still intense. Jeb is divorced and trying to enjoying the rare down time he has when his old friend Brody calls him to keep an eye out on his wife, Melissa, who is eight months pregnant.

Nita is trying her hardest to bounce back from her painful break up with her ex-boyfriend. Her boss recently had a scandal hit the media and the only person he is willing to speak to is Melissa on a private island. The opportunity to see her good friend and reporter, Melissa, is one that Nita doesn’t want to pass up. That is until she spots Jeb trailing along with Melissa. As a storm move in on them, Nita and Jeb try to fight their attraction and forget the hurt of their past.

I have to say that so far this might be my favorite in the series and it’s a novella. I don’t know if it is the fact that it was so short and to the point that kept my attention but I did like it. I think part of the problem with the series is that the drama seems forced like the author is manufacturing these events to spiral out of control and they don’t necessarily benefit the stories.

For those who have read the previous books, then you might appreciate reading about what happens to Melissa. Brody and Melissa take up too much of the spotlight from Nita and Joe. While Melissa and Brody provide a flare of drama and comic relief, I didn’t need so much book time dedicated to them since this is a novella.

Overall, if you need a feel good short romance, then this is the perfect book.
