Review

Zoey McCleary has always been a wild child. She skips through life with little to no care, making impulsive and reckless decisions. There’s not one single project that she has committed to in her life. After hearing her best friend, Jericho, speaking so passionately of archaeology, she takes interest in it. She signs up for the archaeological dig at Triangle Mount that Jericho is leading through the university.

Dr. Jericho Chance is back in Cupid, Texas, looking for a new start in his archaeology career. He had an affair with a former student which left his reputation in the archaeology field ruined. He is on probation with the stipulation that he can’t get involved with any of his students. Zoe promises not to do anything to ruin his last shot as a professor. They make a pact that they will not act on their impulses despite a scorching kissed they shared before he got the position.

After their first archaeological find, Jericho and Zoe, goes to see his great-grandmother who would know if the story behind Triangle Mount is true. She explains the story the local legend and Zoe can’t help but wonder if she and Jericho are somehow tied to it. She is determined to solve the mystery and put together the pieces of the puzzle.

I tend to love friends to lovers theme. Who should know you better than your best friend? Jericho and Zoe complement each other. They always had feelings for one another but never expressed it to each other. It’s that fact that annoyed me a little. Why couldn’t they have been adults and say something to each other.  When they finally kissed, Jericho is accepting a position that has stipulations where they can’t explore their “new-found” romantic feelings.

I did feel like I missed something. I’m not sure if it is because I didn’t read the first two in the series or the author didn’t give me enough background but despite that Somebody to Love is an enjoyable read. I recommend it for fans of quaint and quirky small town romances.
