From New York Times bestselling author Tracy Anne Warren comes a sexy and romantic new contemporary series about corporate combat in the boardroom and under-the-covers passion in the bedroom…

Idealistic good girl Madelyn Grayson believes in doing what’s right. Even as a high-powered executive in the mad world of advertising, she doesn’t cut corners, making her ad campaigns sizzle without having to burn anyone along the way.

Rival exec Zack Douglas never wastes an opportunity to land the next big deal—especially when it benefits him. A bad boy with a reputation to match, he has no qualms about doing whatever it takes to get ahead, no matter who gets in the way.

When a hot promotion pops up at their company, both Zack and Madelyn wind up on the short list for the position. But as the two square off, they discover that being heated rivals in the office makes for scorching bed play behind closed doors. Will Madelyn’s steamy, secret affair with Mr. Vice make her compromise her ideals—or worse, lose her heart?

Review

This book started off with a lot of potential. The enemy to lovers trope in full force and I was excited to see where this would go. While the premise was good and the plot fast paced, this was more of the same. I’ve read multiple books involving enemies to lovers in the corporate workplace, and at the end of the day this offered nothing unique or new to storyline.

Removing this fact, the story was well-written and Zach and Madelyn make a good matchup whether duking it out over ad campaigns or heating it up under the covers. The back cover is a bit misleading because the promotion isn’t what gets these to romantically involved, instead it’s a chance encounter on New Year’s Eve; perfect timing for a book release. That’s the only tidbit I’m giving away and that’s because I don’t like it when the back cover is misleading.

From the hero perspective, Zach is the guy who’s doing everything he can to be successful and he can’t help his good looks or the fact that everyone thinks he screws everything that moves. Surprisingly he doesn’t screw everything, and he’s attracted to the one woman who hates him more than anyone else. Zach is a bit of an alpha and he doesn’t let go of something he wants easily. I always enjoy a hero willing to fight for what he wants, even if that means going against his own personal choices.

Madelyn is coming off a breakup with her fiancée, who’s been more of a friend then a lover to her over the years. She’s trying to focus on her career and future success. Instead, things go topsy-turvy when a one night encounter turns into something completely different. Madelyn is an extremely independent, career driven woman, which I admire. At the same time she makes some decisions in this story that I, personally, didn’t feel were reflective of a heroine.

Pacing was very uniform and I also enjoyed how Warren allowed Madelyn and Zach’s relationship to grown over time, instead of insta-lust to insta-love.

Overall, if you enjoy enemies to lovers and enjoy the corporate workplace novels this would be a book for you.
