Review

The good reads are the ones we can’t put down…

For me, Morgan grabbed my attention with an orthopedic surgeon hell-bent on avoiding intimacy and commitment. Pair him up against a French female chef, whose intense attraction is worse than the Earth’s gravitational pull and sparks fly.

I really enjoyed this story. It’s a mix of dealing with nosy and troublesome family, cultivating a romance that two people don’t want, and plenty of sexy, steamy tension that quickly melts into hot encounters. Morgan does an amazing job of creating a family in the O’Neil’s that you’d kill to be a part of, and kill to get them to leave you alone. She’s mastered the ability to play up the roles of family patriarch, all-knowing and wise, and the brothers who constantly do battle with our hero. Morgan has this story locked and you could easily relate to both hero and heroine.

Not once did I find the heroine or hero TSTL, or wish both of them would get a clue. They communicate, the have adult conversations, even when they may not resolve the problems the way I wanted. The problems are real, and the past is the main antagonist for both H/h.  I lived and breathed the steam coming from Elise and Sean. Also, Elise is French so there’s plenty of romantic language and few naughty words coming from both of them. If you’re a fan of books with languages I can say this one explores French a bit. I enjoy reads that invoke other cultures, so the French background gave me an additional interest.

This one became a quick page turner, but it started a bit slow, building the hero’s character up and giving us a deep inside look right from the start. Once the action hits though, there’s no lag. From there on out its conflict, and a ripple effect of events that kept me engaged.

Overall, if you’re looking for a nice summer read, something that will make you smile and with a good dose of crazy family, to either remind you that you’re normal or that you know brothers and sisters just as wacky, Suddenly Last Summer is the one to grab.
