What a Girl Wants
Maya Rodale

Genre: Contemporary
Heat Level: Hot
Rating:

The third installment of a sexy, whirlwind romance about a modern-day heroine writing historical novels based on her romantic misadventures with the Bad Boy Billionaire.

Jane Sparks had it all … almost.

Everyone knew that Jane Sparks had been dumped by her high school sweetheart and fired from her job, which is why she was really looking forward to attending her high school reunion as a successful romance novelist—with her hot billionaire boyfriend as a date. But a violent encounter with her ex-boyfriend changed everything.

Duke Austen was the luckiest guy in town … almost.

Duke Austen is a blue-eyed charmer with a bad-boy reputation and ambitious plans for his future—after two failed startups, this tech entrepreneur is about to celebrate the 20-billion-dollar IPO of his company—but it no longer matters when the woman he loves has been hurt. Stranded in his apartment during a hurricane, without power, they must rebuild their trust … and fall in love all over again.

Just when they have it all figured out, Jane and Duke are forced to decide what matters more: facing her past or celebrating his successful future.

Review

NOTE: This book involves sexual assault and may have content too sensitive for certain readers.

The last book in the Bad Boy Billionaire Trilogy in a word: Emotional.

This story is another quick read, novella length and not time consumer in the least… especially since I couldn’t put it down as soon as I picked it up.

The story picks up where the last left off. Duke and Jane are together and bound for happily ever after, with the lone exception that his big party is supposed to happen the night of her class reunion. In the midst of this hoopla Jane has to deal with her ex-douche, Sam. Not everything goes as planned there, but I will say the emotional situations, the issues Rodale touches on are dealt with in a believable and tasteful manner.

I really find inspiration from author’s who take those tragic situations, the tough and horrible things from real life, and put their characters in those same positions. It’s a tough place to go as a writer and even tougher is finding a way to save your character because I want them to have an HEA one way or another.

Outside of the serious topics, there is still plenty of shenanigans: riding in horse drawn carriages, hurricanes, airplanes, a prince, and a class reunion that is totally horrible and awesome all at the same time.

FYI: I still don’t know who Roxanna’s mysterious guy is. Save me from myself Rodale… please! Readers are desperate to know. Did Roxanna get her Mr. Knightley or is it someone else entirely?

Overall, I say read this book. For the love of Romancelandia, read all 3 books in this trilogy and snag you a piece of Duke Austen while you can.
