Five years later, she's delighted with their arrangement, especially since her husband is living on another continent.

But is ten days enough to win her heart?

Review

The second in Guhrke’s American Heiress in London Series… and it’s delicious!

First, I want to say applaud Guhrke for writing a character who has a horrible experience and how she overcomes it is impressive.

Second, this is a hero who can rescue me anytime. Stuart, Duke of Margrave, is by far a gentleman of the sexy and loving order. He’s added to my list of dukes, and you know I love my dukes. Now, I can’t say he’ll top the list but he’s definitely within that top ten list. Plus, Stuart is no dandy, he’s a renowned traveler who faced death and survived. The thing that kept him alive is the idea of his wife.

Edie wants nothing to do with Stuart. As to why, I’ll leave that secret for you to find out when you buy the book. I will say the secret is worth learning. I enjoyed this story of confessions, facing fears, and overcoming obstacles in the name of a future with love, happiness and above all pleasure.

At first Edie is abrasive and I didn’t really care for her, but as I came to know her issues and troubles I found myself able to love her all the more. She’s a force to reckon with for sure. Both Edie and Stuart play merry games of wit through dialogue, wagers, and activities; coupled with antics from Edie’s younger sister as well.

My only issue with the story came with the pacing. At one point the story took an unexpected turn, and while I don’t mind those twists in the road it mess up the pacing and the point to the story. The end result still held the resolution I hoped for, but I think I expected a few more wooing moments or scenes between Stuart and Edie.

Overall, this is a good story with a great hero and heroine who is willing to stand through fire in the name of surviving. I recommend this read for fans of Lisa Kleypas or Lorraine Heath
