Genre: Contemporary Romance
Series: Blackstone Dynasty
Book: 1

Billionaire Caleb Blackstone lives in the glamorous world of wealth and success, with every material luxury. But the moment he sees Brooke Casterley, none of that matters. Caleb is filled with a raw, undeniable need that he can’t ignore…for a girl who is so completely different from everything and everyone he’s ever known.

Only Brooke isn’t looking for love. She knows all too well just how much damage the wrong guy can do. Still, what sane, broke British girl can resist the charms of an incredibly sexy, chivalrous billionaire? What starts as flirtation quickly turns into all-consuming passion. Nothing could have prepared her for the searing heat of Caleb’s touch—or just how much she craves him.
Their whirlwind romance is the stuff of high-society fantasy—but for every moment of pleasure, there is a cost. Past mistakes and tragedy shadow them both…and falling for him might be the kind of trouble she can’t afford.

Caleb Blackstone’s father always told him that he would know when the right woman comes along. It is one of the few things that he knew to be true and when he meets Brooke Casterley, he knows his world will revolve around her.

Brooke Casterley’s past is enough to keep her guarded. She can’t resist when she has the charismatic Billionaire chasing after her. A teasing banter and smoking love affair begins once the two meet.

I’ve read the Blackstone Affair series and loved the books so much. I had such high expectations for the new Blackstone Dynasty series. The first book is good but it is not magic. I’m not overjoyed by this book. The author does a great job of setting up the book with Caleb and his friends/family for the series.

I’m not a fan of insta-love but sometimes it can work. The characters are too cheesy and over the top which is why the insta-love vibe fall short with this piece of work. The ‘I love you’s’ came too fast and the emotions are forced. I felt the connection more during the sexy times. I loved how great Caleb was with Brooke and her scars.

Caleb is a great classic hero. Everyone loves him and he says all the right things. It really is hard to dislike him. Brooke on the other hand is a harder character to connect with. She has a very rough past and there is sadness all over her. It takes a while for her character to develop even as she is in this newfound relationship.

The author throws in some drama with a crazy ex and some past issues to give the story a bit more than romance. The second half of the book is a little less engaging as the plot stalls and the characters became stilted.

This is not my favorite read by Ms. Miller. However, she pulled me in enough to continue to read the series. I look forward to the next book in the series.
