Sydney Paige was never so mortified to hear the words "wrong number" in her life. She meant to tell off the guy who broke her best friend's heart, but unleashed her anger on a perfect stranger instead. And now her world is turned upside down by the captivating man who wants to keep her on the line.

Brian Savage is living a life he's quickly come to hate-until Sydney's wild rant has him hooked and hungry for more. Soon the sexy woman on the phone becomes the lover in his bed. But Brian has secrets, and the closer he lets Syd get, the harder it is to shield her from the devastating mistakes of his past . . .

Four Letter Word is an intriguing, unique tale full of sex, humor, and love. J. Daniels delivers once again in this out of the box romance between two people who comes together in an unconventional way.

Sydney Paige just found out her husband wants out of their marriage. Fleeing the comforts of her home, she decides to stay with her best friend, Tori, who is also have a crappy day as her relationship ended as well. Syd decides to call Tori’s man and give him a piece of her mind. Problem is that she called the wrong number and the stranger on the other end finds her funny. Sydney is mortified and calls him back to apologize for her wild, erratic behavior. Humored by her approached, the two start conversing.

Brian Savage is just going through the motions. There is no joy in his life. The one bright light in his life is his phone calls with Sydney. She is his safe place. There is no pressure and fear of having her too close because she is too far or so he thought. As the two of them start to engage in a deep connecting, sensual phone relationship, Brian discovers that Sydney is in the same town as him. He tries to end it all before she discovers the real truth about him. Life has other plans and he finds himself in love with a woman that he doesn’t want to lose.

I am amazed at how clever and unique this story is. I’ve read books by the author before and I actually gave her high ratings so I’m not surprised that I enjoyed this story. I’m surprised that outside of the humor there is a deeper story. One that pulls at the heartstring and makes you want to root for the characters.

The relationship and connection between Brian and Sydney for the first part of the book is through telecommunication. There is no physical interaction. Despite that, it feels authentic and real. Once they start to connect in person, the chemistry is explosive. J. Daniels knows how to write a steamy scene.

Brian’s story is very deep. He carries guilt in the biggest way and he begins to engage in something that he now wants out. I was scared for him. I knew that Sydney would find out and that it would be a huge hurdle to get over. Most people would not be able to let it go.  I just felt that once the cat was out of the bag, it was very predictable. Everything happens very quickly and neatly.

I look forward to reading about Jamie and Tori. There is so much brewing with those two! J. Daniels is now one of my go-to authors.
