In book 1, Backstage Pass, you get a glimpse of who Sed is but Rock Hard shows you the true Sedric Lionheart. Two years ago, Sed decided that Jessica Chase was the one and he proposed. But Jessica had other plans than being a wife and mother; she was going to law school. Sed allowed that so Jessica threw the ring at him and never looked back.

After a rough semester and with her financial situation dim, Jessica went to Vegas to make some money working at a strip club. It was far enough away from family and friends that they would never know but she wasn’t counting on Sed showing up. At Brian’s bachelor party, The Sinners get into a bit of a fight, which ends up costing Jessica her job. When Jessica confronts Sed, she winds up with a job offer too good to refuse. However, this puts her and Sed together in some very close quarters.

Unable to deny themselves, Sed and Jessica give into temptation. Only Jessica refuses to lose her heart to Sed again, but for Sed, Jessica has always had his. Sed tries to reawaken Jessica’s passion and they find themselves in some very compromising, and public, situations. But things are never easy and they find themselves dealing with a lot of issues that could break them if they don’t learn to listen to each other.

It took all of three pages for me to hate Sed. I was convinced that Jessica was better off without him and his chauvinistic views. But Sed has a way of wiggling his way into your heart and then you can’t get him out. Yes, he is a Jerk (with a capital J) but he completely owns it. And everything he does is for the good of the band or person, even if they don’t know it yet. He is the band leader and carries their burdens on his shoulders.

Jessica is a very headstrong woman, which is why I think she and Sed butt heads. At first, I absolutely loved her, especially when she stood up to Sed about law school. But as the story went on, there were times when I thought she was being spiteful towards Sed. Yes, I understand she was hurt but she refused to see Sed for who he was, a jerk but someone who tries to fix everything and make it right. She is a smart woman but it took someone else to make her open her eyes and really see Sed.

Sometimes it’s hard for the story, or romance, to come through in an erotic novel. It’s easy to get swept up in the sex and have the story just be about that. Olivia Cunning does an amazing job at keeping the story, and the romance front and center. Of course, there is some hot and dirty sex and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to look at a picture of Eiffel Tower without getting all flushed.

I love these guys! I am very excited to see where this series will go. Jace’s story is supposed to be up next and that promises to be just as hot and maybe a bit kinkier then the previous books. Plus, I’m really looking forward to more Eric and Trey, especially Trey!

If you want to read something that will get your heart pumping then I suggest you pick up Rock Hard. And if you haven’t read the first in the series, Backstage Pass, then you should pick that up too. While its not necessary to read them in order it makes the experience so much better because you really get to know the guys in the first book. It is totally worth the trade back price.
