Laconic Sir Colin Lambert isn’t at all worried about the prospect of fatherhood—not if it brings the lovely actress Chantal back into his life! She refused him once, but now with little Melody to tempt her, perhaps she will return to him and be his wife at last!

The only problem is, Chantal has disappeared!

Prudence Filby isn’t as lowborn as she seems, but no one would hire a lady as a stage seamstress. Now that the obnoxious Chantal has fled without paying Pru, she doesn’t even have that income and her little brother Evan is getting hungrier by the moment! When the lovesick Mr. Lambert offers to pay her to help him find Chantal—and help him mind little Melody on the journey—Pru has no choice but to take him up on it!

Colin wants to fly to Chantal’s side, but with Miss Filby and the little ones in tow, he finds his way hampered by mishap after mishap. Along the way he realizes that the woman he wants is not the one he’s chasing

Celeste Bradley – Rogue in My Arms absolutely sizzles! Warning… a fan and a cool drink are going to be needed for this one. Don’t get me wrong, this is in no way an erotic novel but Celeste leads us on a delightful journey with some scorching scenes that are not for the tame at heart.

I love Celeste Bradley and have read all her books. This new ‘Runway Brides’ series was greatly anticipated by me and I have not been disappointed in either this second installment or the first – Devil in My Bed. There are some simply hilarious “side” adventures throughout the story as our hero pursues another woman (the nerve…), with a supposed seamstress, a stoic 12-year-old boy, and of course our little trouble maker Melody. Unbeknownst to them, they are also being followed but by whom and why is a puzzle. A little mystery, a gathering of old friends and familiar characters from other books, and you have another great Celeste Bradley book.

I have to say that Pru, our heroine, is definitely not what she seems. She evolves through the book as only a gifted writer can show us. The poor girl carries a huge weight on her shoulders, pretending to be something she is not to protect her young brother. But as the book reaches its climactic end, you will find a bold and brave woman in the shoes of our “rough and uneducated” little seamstress.

Colin really ticked me off at first. He does some simply ridiculous things throughout the book and I wanted to hate him but… he wins you over with a cheeky sense of humour, his brave defense of our heroine, and a little help from a traveling troupe of actors (don’t ask, just read the book!). A man pretending to be a pirate always gets me…

The love scenes are positively blistering! A little more sensual and graphic than I am used to from Celeste but it didn’t affect my opinion on the book. However, it might be a bit too graphic for some.

I can’t wait for the final book in this series – Scoundrel of My Dreams. I can honestly say it will most likely be the most anticipated book on my fall reading list. Jack’s story is going to be a great one!

  1. Sounds like fun. A mismatched pair chasing someone, throw in kids and the fun begins. My kind of book. I haven’t read any of this series, but it looks like I’ll have to. I want to read this book, and I prefer to read a series from book one on.
    Thanks for the review.

  2. I second Danielle’s review! ‘Rogue in my Arms’ moves from humorous to heart-rending. I can’t wait to read the third one in the series.
