I’m thrilled to have Maggie Robinson back, this time writing as Margaret Rowe. Please give Maggie a warm welcome and comment to enter to win her June release, TEMPTING EDEN. Below is my review of TEMPTING EDEN.

~*~*~

I was thrilled when Bev chose Tempting Eden to be the June Featured Review. I know it scared her a little to read it—it scared me too when I was writing it. I’m a pretty conventional middle-aged woman, and all of a sudden I was writing the noirest Regency Noir. My heroine Eden is a submissive who has allowed herself to be pushed far too far. Her hero Hart discovers he’s spent his whole life not going far enough. The tagline is “the perfect gentleman and the imperfect woman who makes him forget all his good intentions.” Victoria Dahl called it “a deeply emotional story that offers both wicked heat and delicious connection.”

Tempting Eden is hotter both in subject matter and sensual scenes than anything I’d written before. Hence Margaret Rowe was born, the naughtier alter ego of Maggie Robinson. Margaret can push herself far too far without dire consequences. It’s rather exhilarating to erase boundaries line by line. Berkley Heat is an erotic imprint, and will publish a second Margaret Rowe book next year, Any Wicked Thing. I have to say that even though I’ve been bad, my covers are almost too good to be true!
Here’s a brief excerpt:

He sat on the edge of the bed. “Where would you like me to begin?” he asked, the mischievous crease on his cheek deepening.

Eden had been prepared for his deference. “You may kiss my toes.” That would teach him. She still wore her stockings, after all.

His face betrayed no surprise. Gently, he loosened the coverlet at the foot of the bed and exposed her narrow feet. “Which side, madam, left or right?”

“Why, both of course.” Two could play this ridiculous game.

Hart held her feet together, fingering one sole. Eden stifled her urge to giggle, then gasped as he somehow inserted both her big toes into the hot cavern of his mouth. A most peculiar sensation tugged in her lower belly as his tongue tricked and tickled. All the while he was massaging one foot, then the other. She felt an unfamiliar lassitude.

“That’s quite enough,” she said at last.

She felt his hands move up to her calves, stroking and kneading until her legs fell apart. The friction between his hands and her stockings unraveled her. He pushed aside the linens. The candles revealed the shadows on the planes of his face. Eden had never seen anyone with such earnest concentration before.

Bliss. The tip of his tongue swept slowly, remorselessly. She felt no embarrassment as she opened to him, urging him on. She was drenched and filled with the certainty of his perfection. Soon she would edge beyond her boundaries, to the place where there was nothing but feeling and flying. In the meantime she lay dazed, almost thought-free. He was consuming her, devouring her. There would be nothing left but a flash of light as he made her disappear.

Here’s my question for a chance to win Tempting Eden: What’s your greatest temptation? Chocolate? Chili dogs? Power shopping? I have to say I’m inspired by Eden—mine is getting a spa pedicure.

  1. Oh definitely all kinds of sweets but chocolate especially 🙂 Tempting Eden sounds very interesting…

  2. Hmmmm…would have to be massages (NOT the dodgy kind!) The feeling of absolute relaxation after one is amazing.

Second would be chocolate. European chocolate.

  3. Oh, Babs. Massages. There is a wonderful woman nearby who gives great ones in her day spa, but she spent her winter working at Disneyworld, so no massages for me.:( She’s back now, though, and I had that spa pedicure on Monday morning, including a nice long lavender footsoak and foot massage. Heaven!

Host, I have a wicked sweet tooth myself. Pies are my downfall.

  4. I love my sweets. I’m a carboholic. That’s why I’m now not eating refined sugars. LOL. When I don’t need a sugar fix, it’s the darn salt.

My biggest weakness is really, really good chocolate. Mouth watering chocolate truffles–the plain chocolate ones. Then I would say baked goods–which thankfully aren’t usually in my pantry. Chocolate cake, chocolate chip cookies (homemade of course). The list is virtually endless.

  5. I just discovered new pretzel M&Ms and they have been my downfall. I ate the entire bag in about 30 seconds lol but I love hot stone massages, i can never just get a regular one. theres just something about the hot stones that make so much better! Now I want to go to the spa and eat some M&Ms!

Congrats Margaret (Maggie) on Tempting Eden! I can’t wait to read it!

  6. My biggest temptation is a romance release by one of my favorite authors. lol. And salsa and chips, of course. 🙂

Good luck with Tempting Eden, Maggie! 🙂

  7. I can give myself a pedicure and a facial but I have to get myself a massage. A day at the spa with a massage is heaven to me. Oh, and CHOCOLATE

  8. My greatest temptation? I’m so easy – book shopping. There’s something tempting about a book 🙂

  9. My greatest temptation is chocolate and books. My TBR pile is getting out of control, but I keep buying books because I love to read. I look forward to reading Margaret Rowe’s latest!

  10. Books are my greatest temptation too. It’s difficult for me to pass the book section when I go shopping. Pastries would be my next biggest temptation and ice cream. Congratulations on the release of Tempting Eden Margaret. If I’m going to broaden my horizons some, I think your book is a good place to start.

  11. Chocolate and books are my weakness, I love both! Great excerpt, I would love to read this one!

  12. Hi,
My greatest temptation is candy and books. Dear goodness if i see candy can almost imagine myself eating it. lol I’m also a book addict. ^^ Right now unemployment is really hurting my book buying though. Once i get a job amazon is going to make a killing off of me.

  13. I’m starting to get really hungry after reading all these comments, LOL. Buttered popcorn was mentioned—I love mine with Raisinets or M&Ms. I never heard of pretzel M&Ms…they’d be great in buttered popcorn too!

We’ve got company all weekend and one of my favorite temptations is to have small delicious snacks mid-day instead of three great big meals. I see shrimp cocktail in my future. 🙂

  14. Right now I am tempted to read Tempting Eden !! Hot stuff, Maggie, my friend !!

Historical romance novels and chocolate – not necessarily in that order! Oh and a great cup of hot tea. I am a fanatic for trying new teas.

And when I am writing I always have a HUGE jar of peanut butter filled pretzels at my desk.

Shoes! Imelda Marcos would LOVE my shoe closet. The sad thing is that I can only wear tennis shoes at work. My shoe collection only comes out for RWA Conference and other events when I can dress up. Doesn’t stop me from collecting!

I am SO thrilled for you, Maggie / Margaret ! You have done so well since the Avon event and I can’ t wait to read your books. You WILL be at Nationals, right?

  15. My biggest temptation is book shopping. I’ve just got to buy more and more books.

  16. Please don’t enter me in this. I’ve already got the book. I just wanted to say hello to Maggie and say that even though I haven’t read the book I know I’m going to love it. It just sounds soo good and different. I wish you the best of luck with book sales. 🙂

  17. Hi Maggie! I’ve heard so many recommend this one to me and I always said its been on my wishlist since I heard its coming out! The cover for ANY WICKED THING is so beautiful!! I love it! I love the wit of the heroine! Made me smile with that excerpt.

My greatest temptation is cheesecake! And I so love all different kinds they have now! My daughter rocks making them with splenda too!

  18. My greatest temptation is books – I just can’t resist – but a spa pedicure is heaven, I have to admit. I’m looking forward to checking out Tempting Eden, it sounds delicious.

  19. My greatest temptation would be shopping for books or shoes. I love, love, love shoes. But I do admit I have a serious weakness for chocolate.

  20. Oh my, I so love the sound of this book! All the best for its release! My greatest temptation? Popcorn. I eat it constantly. Not microwave, but the swimming in corn oil, popped on the stove variety. With butter. Yikes.

  21. My greatest temptation (after books) is chocolate! Tempting Eden sounds like a book I’d like to read!

  22. Love the excerpt and enjoyed your review of Tempting Eden. I am so intrigued about the story, though a “little dark and disturbing” I have to find out about Eden’s journey to her HEA.

My temptation is romance books and massages.

  23. I have a 2 year old on my lap or I’d write way more, but thanks for all the good wishes today! Off to watch Max and Ruby, quite a departure from Tempting Eden, LOL.

And yes, Louisa, I’ll be at nationals (and so will the 2 year old!). Can’t wait to meet you!

  24. Hi Maggie!

It’s so nice to see you here at the Season! 🙂 Your new book looks really good and very sexy. Bev gave it a great review and I’m very eager to read it. And what an eye-catching cover!

I have too many temptations! I love candy as well, I’m going through a Reese’s cup phase right now! I also love spa products like lotions, etc., and buying books I cannot resist!

Good luck with the release of “TEMPTING EDEN”!
I hope you have a Great and Happy Weekend!

  25. Books, cats, cabernet savignon, freshly brewed black coffee – too many lol. Tempting Eden sounds just as tempting!

  26. BOOKS! Books like Tempting Eden are my greatest temptation, with chocolate following a close second. No matter how many books I have that haven’t been read, I always want the new ones that are irresistibly tempting….yes it’s an addiction…and I LOVE it. I need to learn how to read faster without sacrificing any of the joy or escapism that losing myself in a great love story gives.

Congrats on all of your new books!

  27. Mine is chocolate i love it and I gotta say this book sounds fantastic

    Have Fun
    Helen

  28. I think it would be heavenly to relax and have a deep facial. Warm moist towels. Then to lie down and have a gentle massage. Just to relax and feel pampered would be so nice.

  29. God, this sounds sexy and hot!

I recently became vegan, so my biggest temptation is brownies. And chocolate chip cookies. I seriously need to learn to bake vegan goodies.

  30. Maggie, Tempting Eden sounds yummy and filled with Hot and Sexy. 🙂 On my never ending TRL.
My biggest temptation is Pepsi, I too am addicted to it. But my biggest temptation is a great read (books) pepsi and my latest m&m’sthat have pretzels in them. God, they are soooooo good.
    Much success with this release.

  31. Bookstores. Bookstores full of shelves and shelves of beautiful books, calling out to me and asking me to take them home and read them. While I may resist buying other things, when a shiny, new book tells me that I don’t actually need to save some money for things like, y’know, food and rent, I believe it despite myself. And the sweet scent of new book smell? Ahh, bliss~

  32. Mine weakness is chocolate…..any shape, any flavor, any kind. Love it all! Of course, I love popcorn and potato chips too! Even love chocolate covered popcorn and potato chips!

  33. I should say my biggest temptation is books….but if my hubby says he’s in the mood….Well, let’s just say my books can wait. Therefore I guess my biggest weakness is making love…..after that my 2nd biggest weakness is reading about love!!!

  34. What a hot excerpt! My biggest temptation is dark chocolate although chocolate chip cookies and chocolate cupcakes are also high on the list.

  35. After reading that little snippet of Tempting Eden, I am most definately anxious to read the book myself. My biggest temptation (other than books of course) is sexy athletes. I am a die hard American football fan and have a thing for those buff, quick, beefy, running back types. Anyone know a good series that involve football players? I’ve been into Susan Elizabeth Phillips Chicago Bears series. Love her writing…. and the football players she writes about.
