Breaking news, scandal fans:

You thought you knew the dangerous Duke of Wycliff, London’s globe-trotting adventure addict. Here’s what you don’t know: he’s penniless. Sebastian Digby’s ducal lifestyle is over forever unless he finds a rich bride. But thanks to The London Weekly, everyone knows better than to tangle with this lothario. Besides (as one writer can testify), it seems that Sebastian has been unable to keep his hands of his own lowly housemaid…

And that’s a problem. A big one.

Because that housemaid just happens to be me. Eliza Fielding. The same undercover Writing Girl who’s been exposing the Duke’s most intimate secrets to the world. And now I’ve gone and complicated everything by falling love with him. Passion and deception have never been so delicious, but now the truth could destroy everything. This is more than a conflict of interest. It’s a seduction where love itself hangs in the balance.

REVIEW

The third book in the Writing Girls series by Maya Rodale is sure to capture the heart of historical romance lovers everywhere.

Eliza is feisty. I loved her. She is all about the story and will do whatever it takes to get it – even posing as a housemaid in the notorious Duke of Wycliff’s home. She makes a terrible maid, but luckily the house isn’t formal and the Duke is entertained by her bottom.

Sebastian, Duke of Wycliff, is also a great character. I loved how reluctant he is in the beginning to be the duke in the beginning and how gradually he becomes more comfortable with the role. (Something Eliza teases him about several times) He is also so much more than he seems in the beginning. He is very smart and committed to educating people about the cultures and the plants he had encountered on his travels.

The Tattooed Duke has some very sexy scenes, but the couple doesn’t actually consummate they relationship until the very end. I especially love the scene when Eliza first discovers Sebastian’s tattoos while he is bathing. It is incredible sensual.

There are secrets that Eliza keeps from Sebastian that he should have figured out before he does, but he is blinded by his desire for her. There is also one really big secret that through me for a loop.

Everything about The Tattooed Duke worked for me – I loved the hero, the heroine, the plot, and of course the happily ever after.

Rating: 5 (Perfect! – Keeper shelf! )

  5. Okay I have to admit it I don’t just like I LOVE the Writing Grils series! All I can say is THANK YOU Maya! I love the section of her webpage where she goes behind the scenes at The London Weekly and where you can learn more about the characters (if you haven’t visited be sure to check it out!).

My got myy first job in the 1960’s and it was at a local newspaper in the classified ad department as a proof reader (I was 15 at the time and loved the excitment and the hustle and bustle. I can remember the reporters standing in the corner talking about their latest leads and of course all of them smoking either a cigar or cigarette (I’m surprised they didn’t have a beer in their other hand).

I’m looking forward to reading The Tattooed Duke and since both my sons have tatoos maybe I’ll find out from Sebastian a GOOD reason to get one since my sons ideas of a reason weren’t very convincing!

  6. Sounds like a great book! Definitely going on my to-read list. (How had I not heard about this series before??)

  16. I have had this in my TBR list for a long time, then read a couple of reviews that said the story moved too slow. So I was a little bummed to hear that but still like the sound of the book and want to give it a try. Now I read your review and I am very excited to read it. Tattoos are sensual, a great place to see them for the first time, in the bath =)

  17. OMG!!! Sound s so good, it’s been on my to read list for some time and I have to get it now!!

  19. I have always been a fan of exploring. National Geographic has been a favorite since I was in grade school. I enjoy the historicals where the adventure of exploration, especially to foreign climes, is involved. So many of the historicals come out focused on the war or dealing with spy/war issues. Exploration is another path that offers adventure, suspense, and danger without the battlefield. This sounds like it will be a favorite.

  20. The title is so different and catches my interest. The hero seems intelligent and really likeable which is a plus.

  21. I like intelligent women who pursue their dreams. Catching a Duke in the washroom WOW some women really do go to extremes. I like that you like Eliza and her secrets. Sebastian sounds like he may have some secrets too. Always like to read books people highly recommend.

  22. Love the cover. Great blurb and excerpt. Can’t wait to read this book to see what happens between Eliza and Sebastian. Thanks for the giveaway.
