I’m so totally and completely stuck when it comes to the title of my first contemporary novel–although I do have the cover (see below).

Okay, so you want to know what the book is about? Let me give you some history. This is the first in my new contemporary Crème de la Crème series. This is the shortest book–it’s category length–and the intro book. The connection between the books is the friendship between four woman who are all share ownership the high-scale bakery Crème de la Crème (two are sisters).  Tessa Stephens,  baker with a specialty in breads,m and her ex-pro football player (quarterback–four Superbowl rings)  boyfriend of two years, Greyson Monroe are the h/h in this first book.

After his retirement from football three years ago, Grey has a lucrative broadcasting and ad pitchman career (he vows he’ll never do any modeling though).  He’s put his nasty and very high-profile marriage and divorce behind him. He’s happy the way things are between him and Tessa. Happy that is until he finds a) half of his bathroom contains a drawer full of  women’s toiletry b) she’s commandeered three of his eight drawers, which now contain a color assortment of  bras and thongs and c) this walk-in closet now stores more than an arm load of everything from woman’s jeans to evening dress. Sleeping over a couple a nights is one thing but moving is completely another.

Being the helpful boyfriend he is, he loads all her stuff (save the toothbrush and some underwear and bras) into a really nice duffle bag (hey, it’s got the 49ers logo on it–the genuine article) and takes it over to her (She must be missing half this stuff. He’s doing her a favor.)

Tessa is in the midst of moving their homegrown bakery business from her friend’s bakery to their first store. Life is crazy but she can’t complain, she has the career she’s always dreamed of and she’s with the love of her life and he loves her just as madly. But where’s the Hallmark card that says, Nothing says I love you more than your belongings in a duffle bag deposited at your front door. When Grey makes it clear he’ll never commit to her for the long haul, she breaks it off. And breaks her heart.

Grey is determined to get on with his life and get over Tessa. But everything he tries doesn’t work. And then when after only a two months apart she starts dating again, Grey takes a hard look into a future without Tessa and it’s…empty. Now the problem is convincing her to give him another chance. To that end, he pulls out all the stops with an offer of friendship, no strings attached (Yeah, right!). What he hadn’t planned on was having her bend his ear about other men. Over my dead body!

So that’s the gist of the book. That is NOT and I repeat NOT the back cover copy. I made that up on the fly today. But at least I now have something to work with. 🙂

Will you help me out? Help name my book? The comment with the winning title will receive a $25 eGift Certificate from an etailer of their choice.

  12. My dad always thought “The Rise and Fall of the Chocolate Cake” would be a good name for a book. Since Tessa specializes in breads, maybe “As the Dough Rises.” I can’t do any better than that today. Hopefully someone else is more helpful. 😉
