The Contest

Pimp My Read is your chance to win one of four fantastic e-readers, as well as best-selling,  super-sexy, fun contemporary romances by authors Ruthie Knox, Sarah Mayberry, Shannon Stacey, and Molly O’Keefe. This week, we four authors bedeck ourselves in (virtual) feathers and gold chains, climb on top of our Pimp Caddies, and sing the praises of e-readers and digital books at four fantastic romance review sites: Smart Bitches, Trashy Books, Smexybooks, Dear Author, and The Season for Romance. At every site, one of us is giving away an e-reader, as well as prizes for runners-up. If you’ve been on the fence about which e-reader to get, or even why you would get one—or if you love your e-reader to bits and are dying to convert a friend or family member to the digital side—this is the contest you’ve been waiting for!

The Prizes

Sarah Mayberry is giving away a Kindle Touch 3G at Smexybooks,

Shannon Stacey is giving away a Nook SimpleTouch with Glowlight at Dear Author,

Ruthie Knox is giving away a Kindle Keyboard 3G at Smart Bitches, Trashy Books,

and Molly O’Keefe is giving away a Kobo Touch at The Season for Romance.

The winner of each e-reader and two runners-up at each site will also receive Exclusively Yours, Undeniably Yours, and Yours to Keep by Shannon Stacey, Her Best Worst Mistake and Within Reach by Sarah Mayberry, About Last Night and Ride With Me by Ruthie Knox, and Can’t Buy Me Love by Molly O’Keefe.

Molly O’Keefe Enters the Technological Age: A Love Story

I have a phone that is almost always out of battery. Or, in the moments I need it most, I’ve left it at home.  I tell people to call me on my cell phone and then, without thinking, I turn it off.  All of this is to say – I have no love of technology (or apparently talking on the phone).  So, when e-readers  entered the publishing world, I was uninterested. I love books. The way they smell. even the way my favorites have fallen apart. E-readers were for other people.

But, here’s the thing – I live in a city, which you think would mean it would be easy to get books. But I don’t drive. So, unless the book was at my grocery store or drug store, I couldn’t find it.  Weekend trips with the family to the bookstore were (and still are) a regular occurrence. But as a reading addict (I’m sure you can relate) there were times I wanted a book NOW!  E-readers feed that addiction. The ability to get the book you want, when you went it, almost IMMEDIATELY – holy cats! It’s mind-blowing.  We’re all addicts, right? It’s like living in a bookstore!

Do they replace the experience of reading a paper book? No. Does buying on-line replace the experience of going to a bookstore? Not even close.  Do I spend a lot more money, going to a bookstore and buying on-line? Unequivocally, yes. Is it worth it? Without a doubt.

If you’re holding out because you love reading and can’t imagine changing the experience, you’ll never have a better chance to give it a try, or better books with which to step into the digital age.  Give it a try and perhaps you’ll have your own technological love story.

170 Replies to “Contest: Pimp My Read”

  1. What a wonderful giveaway. I would love to win this as I currently read all my Molly O’Keefe books on an ipod touch, and my eyesight is not what it was. It would be great to have a larger screen by the time Cant’ Hurry Love is releasede, to enhance the reading experience, and to avoid eyestrain.

  2. Having recently bought an e-reader for myself after 6 months of mostly using a smartphone to read e-books, I have discovered how great a real e-reader is. They’re light, they’re easy to hold and easy to use and I don’t know how I went so long without having one. I would now like to get an e-reader to give to my mother. She reads a lot, but holding a book is painful for her because she has fibromyalgia and the strain on her wrists, arms and shoulders means she can’t hold a book for long, especially a heavy or thick book. Since an e-reader weighs less than an average paperback, I think it would be a good thing for her to have one.

  3. I had to give away a lot of my books this winter, since I just wasn’t going to have room for them any more. *sniffles* Fortunately, a lot of my books I also had in electronic format, so I did not have to say goodbye to old friends – but I am sure a lot of my friends in electronic format won’t mind moving over to something more portable than a PC.

  4. My aunt also does not drive and she is no longer able to walk anywhere. While her mind is as sharp as ever, her body is not cooperating and allowing her to walk to the store or library. She would be the perfect person for an e-reader and it would be great for her to have a way to indulge her love of reading. I used to give her my books to read and now that I am reading e only, she no longer has many good books to read unless someone in her building lets her read one of their books. Unfortunately, not many of those who share books are romance readers.

  5. Thanks to a chronic illness, my mom spends a lot of time resting on the couch and gets so bored. An e-reader would let her download books wirelessly from the public library.

  6. I should say I want to win so I can give an e reader to someone else, but that’s just not true, so I won’t say it. I want it for myself and here’s why:

I have this weird reading habit. I carry three or more books around with me almost everywhere.

It’s not OCD thing, the number three is irrelevant. It’s just that I read pretty fast, especially with a book I’m very absorbed in, and I’ve simply had one too many awful experiences (stuck in airplanes, traffic jams, dr. offices, waiting for kids at piano/soccer/etc./ lessons, that sort of thing) where I finished the book I had with me, and tragically, didn’t have another one to read. I think we can all agree that this is the sort of suffering that is beyond bearing.

Okay, yes, there are a few worse things. I could have had the very bad luck to be a red haired virgin in an 80’s romance novel, or even the most wretched fate in existence (there’s just nothing as bad, frankly): I could be kidnapped by a pirate named Tristan Matisse.

Such examples demonstrate that there can be, occasionally, problems more dire than running out of good reading material. I’m well aware that what I consider a heartbreaking scenario – trapped for the duration and completely out of books – is perhaps not the saddest listing in the index of “The Big Bedtime Book of Sad Things.” However, after an event that lasted almost three unbearable hours, during which I passed the time by counting the tiles in the Lincoln Tunnel and reading the Toyota owners manual from cover to cover, I realized enough was enough. I could minimize future adversity with a little planning.

So, for the last five years, I haven’t left the house without a bag of books. I also always ensure one of the books has more than five hundred pages, just in case. The bag has solved the biggest issue; I always have books with me everywhere I go. This was a happy solution, to be sure, but not a perfect one. The books can be heavy; there are times where the bulk of them is problematic. Also, I’ve recently become the proud owner of a very middle aged body. My hands increasingly ache from holding the bigger books, my shoulders hurt from the weight of the tote bag and vision problems make the words seem too small, even with glasses.

If I owned a little portable reading device with font sizes that I can enlarge, and options to browse and buy, like a miniature book store, along with being able to carry considerably more than three books with me everywhere, well, I might actually look forward to traffic jams and all life’s other hurry-up-and-wait situations.

  7. Ahhh, Molly. I’d love nothing better than to win one of your books, and a Kobo to boot ~ what more can a girl ask for? This Kobo would be for a family member who loves to read, works straight midnights and sleeps through the day – never getting a chance to find a brick and mortar book store open when he’s awake.

  8. I have a Nook from B&N. My husband and I are both big readers, so I would love to win an e-reader for him. Great giveaway!!

  9. I would love to win an e-reader for my daughters. They are both teenagers now but throughout their lives I have always encouraged and promoted reading. I really believe that reading is incredibly important to becoming a well-rounded, smart and successful person but it is a challenge to get them to choose a book over all the other distractions in their lives. Luckily, they both do still enjoy a good story and I have become quite the “book pusher”, always hoping to find another novel or short story or article that will grab their attention and interest. And I know an e-reader will appeal to their technologically savvy little hearts and minds so in that regard it will certainly help win their attention. Thank you!

  10. I would love to win an e-reader because my iPhone screen is too small! So many good romances out there to be read, my commute could be so much more enjoyable. =)

  11. I would love to get an ereader to share between my parents. My father has Parkinson’s and between that and his eyesight starting to go, reading regular books is becoming more and more difficult. Being able to load different books on the reader, and to enlarge the size of the books to fit his needs would be a godsend for this voracious reader.
For my mother, the former librarian in the family, it would allow her to read all the latest releases more easily, and to enjoy a wide variety of new books at the same time. She loves reading the latest books, but now waits for them to become available at the library, or borrows them from friends due to space issues at home. As my father’s condition worsens, they are downsizing from a four bedroom home to a two bedroom condo – with that change comes a huge release of personal belongings, including books.
With an ereader, she could easily purchase the newest releases without worrying about where they are going to store them.
Thanks for the chance to enter!

  12. I have a son entering the fifth grade. He loves to read and when a book grabs his attention, he wants to get it and read it right then and there. Not always possible, we live in a very small town. I tried to find the Grapes of Wrath for him at the local library and it was out. Darn. I would let him borrow my kindle, but I think there would be a fight. Darn. Sooo, if he had his own he could get right to work on that, and I quote “really thick book”. I think it’s important to promote reading with my young son, he will improve his vocabulary, geography and history. This would be a great opportunity.

  13. I would love to win this ereader for my cousin. She is an avid reader like me and she is going to college in the fall and it would be helpful for her to have an ereader to download her textbooks on so she doesn’t have to carry around a heavy backpack of books. Thanks for the awesome giveaway.

  14. I would want to win for my daughter. We’ve both missed out on reading a lot of books because they are only in e format.
Also the cost is so much cheaper verses buying a paperback or hardcover. And truthfully, for us that works better financially.
And it will make a wonderful birthday present for her. Thanks so much for the opportunity.

  15. I would love to win an e-reader for my 29 yo daughter, Lara. She has an 8 month old and could really use something to lighten her load when she travels. She’s an avid reader, a semi- retired English teacher. She’s in a book club. She’d really appreciate an e-reader.

  16. As I read the comments above I see that most of the commenters already have an ereader. They either want to give it to someone in their family, or want it for them selves. Here’s my reason for wanting an ereader and it’s a simple one:
I can’t afford to buy any kind of ereader. I can’t even buy books right now, since my parents put me on a ban. Yes, that’s right. I’m a 16 years old GUY, who likes reading. I would work to get money and buy myself a book or an ereader, but here in Macedonia, we can’t work. Even my parents can’t get a job, even for adults it’s hard to find a job. But, now I don’t want to be grumpy and all that stuff, to get someone sad and give me an ereader. I’m just being honest. Thanks for reading this, and hopefully I’d win the ereader. Thanks for the great chance 🙂

  17. I would love to win this for my daughter who is an avid reader (no family dinner without her face in a book). She has logged over 3000 minutes in her school’s summer reading challenge. She is trying to get me to download books on my iPad which just won’t work since I’m pretty much reading on it all the time myself.

    Thanks!

  18. An e-reader would provide me with great enjoyment since I am an avid reader. I have been diagnosed with breast cancer, endured surgery, radiation and am now undergoing chemo treatment. I am housebound and this nifty item would be a godsend which I would use forevermore and appreciate always. My mood would improve and this would be an inspiration and give me hope and faith. Many thanks for this wonderful contest and your delightful blogs which I enjoy all the time.

  19. My blog partner is a single mom and can’t afford to buy and ereader. Since most authors send out ecopies she misses out on lots of great books. I would like to win an ereader for her 🙂 thanks for the chance!

I have a kindle and wouldn’t trade it for the world…well, maybe the world but nothing else.

  20. Hello,

I want to win this e-reader for my sister. Her name is Laurel, and she is a single mom. She reads every night to her 2 year old daughter and is building her a library of books to grow with. But she never takes time to get herself books, nor does she have space in her purse or diaper bag for them. She doesn’t have time to go to the library (which has limited hours due to budget cuts, so even if she had time between work and picking up her daughter from day care, it would probably be closed). However she does have an Internet connection, and I know that her library does e-book loans. I would love to give her this Kindle and show her how, isolated as she sometimes feels in a country house alone with a toddler, that she can quickly and easily check out an adult book for her own enjoyment.

    Thanks for reading!

    Taylor

  21. I would like to win one for myself. I am intrigued by the kobo, and I think it would be awesome to own one.

  22. Both my parents have ereaders – in fact, my dad has more ereaders than I do! I have a Kindle Keyboard, and a Sony 350 that I got to see whether I liked the touch interface (in spite of it being an elegant interface,I find I prefer buttons) and now use as a loaner ereader. My son and husband both have the non-touch K4s. It’s been great for my son, who has some neurological deficits – he’s able to read much better on his K4 than in paper – he’s already been through more books this year on his K4 than he had the entire year previous. Daughter won’t touch an ereader with a pole, but then she’s an artist and is into books as an art form. Husband is ambiguous about his K4, but there are some books he wants to read that simply aren’t available other than in eformat (some Mira Grant novellas, and Lois Bujold’s eARC of Captain Vorpatril’s Alliance).

So I don’t need yet another ereader. If I win (and I rarely ever do), I’ll donate it to some organization that gives ereaders to soldiers.

I’m entering because I just like talking about ereaders. Plus, I’ve discovered a whole new blog here!

  23. I would love to win the e-reader for my teenage sister. I was given a Nook over two years ago and she has fallen in love with it, but I can’t share it with her because I live in another state. Also. she will be going to college next year and I know an e-reader would be an easy way for her to continue reading for pleasure on a budget.

  24. Wow… This contest is just great.. I guess I don’t have this long explanation because I kinda get easily distracted unless I’m reading a really great book. My problem is.. I love books since I was a little girl, now as a big girl I have the kindle app on my computer or the one on my phone..That’s how I get my book fix or well of course paperbacks but I’m really running out of space at the apartment so hehe not buying them anymore. I really wish I had an e-reader behe because I can’t drag the pc around and the phone is really not very comfortable on my eyesight. So I can keep the reading madness going! Thanks again for such a wonderful contest.

  25. After much debate with myself, I bought myself a Nook for Christmas last year. I love reading, and would always carry a book with me, just in case I had to wait somewhere. But after finishing a book and having nothing to read, I really started looking into e-readers. Friends had Nooks and Kindles, but I liked the Nook better (and I had a $50. Barnes and Nobel gift card). The thing that sold me was that I could borrow books for the Nook from my library! I would love to win so that I could give it to my Mom for Chirstmas. She enjoys reading and this would make it easier for her to read the books she wants too! (I can’t give it to my daugher because she already bought herself one after watching me read on mine!)

  26. My budget for books has hit rock bottom since my husband became ill and is unable to work. An e-reader would allow me to borrow books from our library’s book consortium and have a much larger choice than at the physical library. It would also mean fewer trips to the library and not leaving work early to catch the open library hours. Thanks for your consideration.

  27. I am so glad you touched on how much money you spend…because boy do those e-books add up quick! It’s so insanely easy to buy the books and then there are so many great recommendations out there. Oye, I always find one on sale that I just might need! 🙂

I have a Nook and I am absolutely in love with it. It’s light, easy to carry, and I can carry 200 books with me without having a crazy heavy purse.

If I were to win, I would definitely give the e-reader to my mom. She has a pretty amazing daughter (he he)…and honestly, she raised me to love books. She read to me, bought me books and without fail brought me into town every Saturday for a trip to the library. A huge fan of romance, she’s loves the naughty stuff just like I do. Just last night she was trying to bum my e-reader from me to read the newest Susan Elizabeth Phillips!

Good luck to everyone. Whoever wins is definitely going to love it!

  28. There is no bookstore here. The closest one is about an hour away. Even our walmart quit having books. I do miss going into a bookstore and picking out a book that I like.

  29. Hello Molly,

Of course I would love to win the Kobo Touch for my sister. Who wouldn’t want to be the hero in a sibling’s life? Aside from that, I do come from a family of readers and each of us has an extensive library. Dreams of ceiling to wall bookcases filled with row upon row of books is just too much for any forest to sustain, so this is where e-readers become the newest commodity for my family. Instead of backaches from toting books from place to place and the extraneous self-indulgence of gasoline overusage at this point in the millennium, I will abide by the rules, pray to the deities (wherever) that you see fit to bequeath me the honour of SSHE-RW (Sibling Super Hero E-Reader Winner)! 😀

Thank you. Good luck to all!

  30. Okay, I need to win the ereader for my husband, because I have more electronic gadgets than he does, and apparently that might cause him to lose his “Man Card”, lol!! Seriously, I love my Kindle Touch, and I think he could benefit from having an ereader. It would certainly help reduce all the bookshelf space we need! Thanks for the giveaways, ladies!

  31. I would love to be in the running for the secondary prizes, Thanks for the chance! 🙂

  32. I would love the chance to win!! I did have a Nook, but had to sell it for cash for bills. I told myself I like the traditional way of reading, and it wasn’t a big deal. It was and I miss it, but you have to do what you have to do. I love the idea of not having to go out and search for the book I want!! Thank you for the opportunity to win.

  33. I left Santa (my hubby) hints left and right about my wish to receive an e-reader for X-mas…that was a few X-mases ago…for an avid reader, book fetishist like me it comes down to 2 possible scenarios 1)I keep accumulating printed material until kids, husband and I will need to move out in the backyard to make room for my books
2)with the aid of a ton of good luck, I win an e-reader kindly offered by these awesome and sympathetic bloggers and writers.
I would be the happiest reader on earth if my wish was granted, and I would be happy for any other fellow reader out there who will luckily win, because we are all in the same boat…sinking under the weight of countless books!!!!!!!
    minadecaro(at)hotmail(dot)com

  34. Love my Kindle, =) to be able to bring all my TBR list in my bag? Awesome! and being able to just try out an unknown author before buying? Love it! I found new favorites i didn´t know about.
I´d love to win a new reader, since my Kindle stopped being able to go online and i´m itching to browse books again *sigh*
    Love the giveaway!
    best wishes, Linda xo

  35. Thanks for the giveaway. I have some ebooks that I’ve been given that can only be read on a Kindle. I don’t like downloading the kindle app and reading from a computer.

    penfield716(AT)yahoo(DOT)com

  36. I would love to win this for my mom; her vision is okay, but the changable font will be so awesome (then she doesn’t have to be on a long library wait list or buy more expensive books in large print).

  37. I won my Kindle almost 3 years ago now. Up until then, I had no interest in an e-reader; in fact, I was in the ‘I love print books’ camp. Well, I still love print books, but I also love my e-reader. I love being able to take my entire library with me, so I can read whatever I feel like reading whenever the mood strikes me.

Now I’m trying to get e-readers for my church. We have a number of elderly members and members with vision issues. I’d love to be able to hand these folks an e-reader on Sunday mornings, set with a huge font, so they can follow the Scripture with the pastor. Purchasing these is not in the church budget right now. Our building was destroyed almost four years ago in Hurricane Ike and we’re still working on getting the new building finished.

Thanks so much for the opportunity.

  38. I already have an ereader and I’d love to get one for a new nursing mama friend of mine.

  39. I currently own an iPad that feeds my HUGE reading addiction. I’ve talked about the benefits of owning a device and ebooks to my family so much, that my mother wants one now. After loaning her my iPad, I discovered that she needs a device of her own. An ereader is a very personal thing and when someone starts fiddling with it, it gets messed up.

So for the sake of our family, I am asking for a ereader for her. So I don’t kill her. Or, so she won’t kill me. Although I have heard there is plenty of time to read in prison. No wall chargers though, so I wouldn’t last very long. 🙂

  40. I completely agree with you Molly! I am a print book junkie. There is something absolutely wonderful about the feel of a new paperback, or a heavy hardcover, or a very well-worn friend in your hands. I like the smell of books, the weight of books, the shape of books… I have sworn up one side and down the other that I will never get on the e-reader bandwagon because I’m not the biggest fan of relying on technology for everything. Plus, I am also in love with my library.

Alas, I have recently moved and will be starting in residence at university in the fall. I would love to be able to take all my books with me, but it’s a long flight and I only have so much luggage space. And there isn’t going to be that much space in my dorm room for my books, especially after I fill up the shelf (I only get one shelf!) with textbooks. I will basically have to survive with only four or five books, because that’s all I’m only to be able to feasibly squish into my suitcases once I’m done packing my clothes, shoes, toaster, etc. It’s a totally depressing situation.

As a student living off pennies, and spending all of them on tuition, housing, and food (in that order), I don’t have the funds to buy my own e-reader. Winning one here would certainly solve my quandry of how I can take all of my books with me to residence.

Thanks for running such a cool contest & good luck everyone! 🙂

  41. Not that I would love to have Kobo, but I already have some ereaders, so I would love to win this for my dad who, at 83, likes to read, but still (hold on…here it comes) buys paperbacks. My folks live in a mobile home with limited space, so an ereader would be the perfect solution.

  42. I’d love to win the e-reader as a gift for a friend who has been helping me with my writing. She has given advice, encouragement and constructive criticism – all with absurd amounts of patience and enthusiasm! This would be a brilliant way to say thank you.
    Ellie x

  43. I would love a new ereader. Kids keep borrowing mine, this way they could have their own. You are giving away some of my favorite authors, so it’s a double win.
    Thank you.

  44. Now here is a reader I would give to my daughter. She is also a “real” book addict. She has no interest in an ereader but I think that is only because she has never actually used one. I think I can convert her if only she would try it. I don’t think she will ever give up paper books but this will give her an easier option to carry around in her backpack. Perhaps she could also use it for textbooks when she heads off to Uni in a couple of years.

This is my first visit to this site but I have already entered a contest to win a swanky new ereader and found two new to me authors that I can try. It was worth the click to get here. Thanks for the contest.

  45. I love my Nook Color to pieces. I love that I can highlight sentences or entire paragraphs that blow me away. I love that I can take it with me anywhere and if I happen to finish a book while I’m out or traveling, I can just cue up another book without having to wait until I get back home. I love being able to download samples to my device. I use that as my “need to purchase in the near future” system. If my darling hubby has me on a “no more book purchases until next month” lockdown, I simply get the samples to remind me which ones I want when the ban is lifted.

As for why I want to win one of the e-readers…

I recently became a contracted writer and my first book is releasing digitally only this Friday. My grandma is 95 years old and over the moon proud of me, especially since she told me 8 years ago that I should be a writer. She used to be a very active woman who gardened, crocheted, sewed, etc. But this last year her body started giving out on her more and more to the point she can no longer do the things she loves. My cousin turned her onto reading and she’s been doing that more now that it’s one of the few things she can do to pass the time. Unfortunately, she recently learned she has glaucoma and sometimes the print in regular print books is too small for her to read comfortably.

She really wants to read my books, but she won’t be able to unless I buy her an e-reader and it’s not in my budget right now. Not only is she my only living grandparent, but she’s my father’s mother which makes her extra special to me since my father passed away when I was only 10. When I get praise from her, it feels like I’m also getting it from my dad.

Despite her age, my grandma’s mind is as sharp as a tack and she has a better memory than even I do. It bothers her that her body is failing her far earlier than her spirit wants. Every day she’s with us is a blessing and I’m thankful for them. It would mean a lot to me if she had a Kindle that she could use to enjoy books as often as she wanted, be able to change the font to something that’s comfortable for her eyes, and read my books. Then, when the good Lord decides it’s her time to come home, maybe she can tell my dad all about them. 🙂

  46. I would love to win an ereader for my mother. I think she would love the ability to have so many books ready to read at any time. Her and my father are talking about how it’s time to downsize and that would definitely limit the amount of space she would have for her many books.

  47. I don’t know if this is a legit purpose, but I want an ereader to give away in a contest of my own. I have a nook, and have given ones to most of my family members because I have drunk the ereader kool-aid and it is delicious.
I’m an SAT tutor for disadvantaged kids at my local high school. It’s a citywide program through New York Cares (speaking of delicious Kool-aid) and it’s awesome. The kids are mostly poor, many of them speak English as 2nd language, and will be the first in their family to go to college, if we can in fact help them get into a college (that they can then afford).
I have noticed that the kids respond really well to bribery. So now they get candy if they do their homework. They get books or movie passes or itunes gift cards for improving their scores or perfect attendance, or really any damn thing I can think of to encourage them. I can’t afford to offer anything particularly exciting personally, and the program budget pretty much runs to some index cards and a pizza party at the end of the year. I would love to be able to tell them that there is an ereader for whichever kid shows the most improvement (I think that’s more motivating than highest overall score). Or maybe for whoever writes the best final essay. Something. Cool expensive gadgetry will motivate them to read more, and getting the kids to think reading is cool is my ultimate goal.

  48. I adore my Sony but I would love to win an ereader to give to my partner. He’s an avid reader who is reading on a cheap off-brand ereader and needs something nicer. He deserves it.

  49. In 2008, my dear husband bought me a Sony Reader for my birthday. For my 29th birthday even. I love that man! He bought me the pretty lighted case for nighttime reading, and gave me Sony gift cards at every turn. I named her Jane Eyre, for the first book I read on her. I read more books in 3 1/2 years than I had in the last 10 years before. I donated all my YA books to my daughters’ school and the rest to the library. I read, on average, a book a day. Then… it had to happen… in March, she became ill. For a while, hard resets and restores to factory defaults kept her hanging on. Then, one night she became totally unresponsive. The technical support team at Sony worked for hours trying to revive her to no avail. I was told as she was out of warranty and extended replacement warranty and virtually obsolete, the best thing to do would be to let her go. I cried, wrapped her up in my favorite case and her original box and buried her in my keepsake chest. I took her SD card out so I could have a reminder of all our good times. Learning to live without her has been the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Library books and books from B&N barely fill the hole that she left in my life. I’m ready to move on now, I think that Jane would want me to. She wouldn’t want me to live like this anymore. I’m ready to welcome a new friend into my life.

  50. Oh I am so excited for this giveaway!! I just LOVE Ruthie Knox and I am so thrilled to be introduced to Sarah, Molly & Shannon as well!

I would love this win this e-reader because then I can stop carrying books around with me – and have them all on one convenient e-reader!! I would even share it with my sisters!! 🙂

You all are just so amazing for putting this giveaway together! I am headed right now to look up all your books! I can’t wait!

  51. I have a Kindle myself and just love it! I alternate between “paper” books and digital ones. My sister is skeptical about e-readers but she’s an avid reader who tends to read on buses and in cafes. I believe she would appreciate the praticality of an e-reader.

  52. I have a tablet that i bought several years ago and neglected to download a kindle app on and now it is so out of date that won’t support the new app. So now i have over 350 books on the kindle app on my computer that i don’t read because it’s really hard to take my desktop everywhere i go. Today is my 50th b-day and it would be great to receive a new e-reader so i can read all the wonderful books i have acquired.

  53. I just recently won a Kindle (the small one) and I’m happy with it but I would love to win one for my daughter who loves to read as much as I do but especially because she is in a book club and all her friends just download their books and she has to hunt down and buy a print book. Thanks for the contest!!

    catslady5(at)aol.com

  54. Thanks for offering such a fun contest. I would love to win an e-reader to share with the hubby 🙂

  55. My old Kindle and I have been through so many books – publishers should be giving e-readers away – we buy so much more now! Anyway – thanks for the contest. My Kindle (and I!) need an upgrade!

  56. We bought a kindle fire for our younger daughter. She doesn’t really use it to read, though, just for playing games and apps. It isn’t the best reader anyway. I did load it with books for her and read them aloud to her every once in a while, but we still tend to prefer paper books for night-night reads.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the occasional gadget, but I’m not ruled by them. My laptop works well, even though it’s a few years old now. My older daughter is married to her laptop and ipod. My hubby lives with one of those bluetooth thingamabobs attached to his ear.

But me, my phone is dumb. I have texting ability, but that’s about it. I’m still not sure how I feel about reading books on a little tablet.

I want to give it a try, though. My house has become a library…or perhaps a second-hand bookstore. There are piles everywhere. My husband and daughters and I inhale books. We snuff ’em. We engorge ourselves on them. And we’re rarely content to get them from the library and then give them back. We re-read them as often as we can.

    We’re die-hard readers.

So yes, I want an e-reader for myself. I want to see what the hubbub is about. I want to give it a try and see if I can catch the wave of the future.

    Thanks!

  57. I recently won a $100 gift certificate from the lovely gals at http://authorsofmainstreet.wordpress.com/. But I’ve spent very little of it because I have no e-reader. My heat-generating laptop is truly not an ideal e-reader on a summer’s day at the cottage. I wish that was sunburn on my thighs. Cross-border shipping costs would really chew into in the gift card’s value. I’d much rather download the books, take a cool e-reader onto the deck, and allow my thighs to heal. Molly, Sarah, and Shannon, I love your books and thanks for introducing me to Ruthie. Ooo, the excitement of discovering a new author. Off to add this site to my follow list.

  58. The quilt back on the Kobo sounds so cool! I would like to win this ereader for my sister. Her collection of print books is growing and when she’s not buying them in bulk she’s over at my house borrowing mine. She’s still not convinced at the benefits of ereader such as saving space and time and I want her to experience that. She’s a super busy lady who reads a lot and I think an ereader is just the thing to help her out.

  59. Hey, I said I was a tech slut! I’ve never tried a Kobo, winning one would be a great way to try one out, without having to chance the money getting blown on something I might not like. I would probably try it out, and then give it to my mom, she reads once in a while.

  60. I would love to win an e-reader for myself! I’m now unemployed due to health issues, and with only my husband’s income & helping our daughter through vet tech school, items like this are not in our budget. I request many, many books from our local library, but sometimes have trouble making it there to pick them up or drop them off. My library now carries lots of e-books, and I think this would make my life so much easier! 🙂

  61. Hello! My name is Nicole, and I’m from a far away land called Argentina!
I’ve been dying to get my hands on any e-reader as I love, love, LOVE reading books, especially paranormal romance. However I’ts getting very tricky to purchase any books here, as there are very few titles, and so I’m restricted to read my babies from my own laptop, but i can’t take it anywhere to read them cause my batter is broken! So pleeeeaaase I NEED to win! I mean imagine all the places I could take my characters with me and immerse in the beautiful worlds of authors like J R Ward (Black Dagger Brotherhood was my first and true love!). I would be forever gratefull and would build a statue in the name of all the PR readers here in Latin America!
    Thanks!

  62. As a public librarian, I used to be against eBooks and eReaders because I got tired of people saying that Google and eReaders would kill the need for librarians and libraries. However, research taught me that two can coexisit especially in the world or romance. (eBooks makes acquiring author booklists much easier and cheaper!) Although I prefer traditional books, I think using an ereader would be helpful especially since my 7-year-old daughter started read and got nosy about mommy’s books. lol. I have no preference of eReader but maybe a Kindle since I shop at Amazon often.

  63. I would love to win an e-reader for myself because I’ve actually been contemplating to go buy one but haven’t been able to actually take that step yet… it just still feels rather expensive to pay that lump sum of money up front to buy an e-reader and not to mention the more expensive shipping to Canada as well. But I have been thinking of making that jump because I am just running out of space for my print books and am getting nagged by the family about how much space my books can take up. I have also been using the Kindle app recently and love being able to download some free reads as well as book samples to read, however, I find it very tiring having to read it off of a bright computer monitor. Having an e-reader would be more convenient to read ebooks off of and it would also help me start saving some physical shelf space as well. So I most definitely would love to win an e-reader for myself and thank you for the awesome chance to do so!

  64. allo from currently sweltering ottawa. i would like to win a kobo touch to give to my husband so he does have to cover the romance books with brown paper.

  65. I don’t have an e-reader and would like to join the club. Having an e-reader will definitely help me keep my book collection from overtaking my tiny apartment.

  66. I want an eReader and everything good that comes along with it. Twenty-first century, here I come.

  67. I would love to win an e-reader. There are so many books that are coming out digitally, so I would love to win one so I can read those books. Thanks so much for the giveaway!

  68. Both of my friends took their e-readers on vacation with us this year and I was jealous of how many book choices they had and how easy it was to pack and take with us. I love reading and am pretty sure this would enhance my reading experience.

  69. When I first learned of ereaders, I did that little sneer that some people do. It just wouldn’t feel like a real book! I need to have it in my hands to worry the cover corners, snort the ink & pulp, make notes in margins. Then one day, after helping me move, my sister made me take hers for a test drive. You see, I’d lined every single box I with a layer of books to distribute the awful weight. At the end of packing up… I still had three suitcases full of just books.

She had me keep it for a few weeks, and I discovered she’d loaded several hundred books via one memory card. I discovered that while there wasn’t a book smell, I could still worry the vinyl cover while reading, and make notes of my own in certain types of file. Let me tell you, something clicked, and it wasn’t any of our aching backs. I am never going back. I am the proud owner of a Nook Color. It’s my friend.

In a few weeks, I am helping my father move. His book collection is roughly four times the size of my own, I would guess. He has often stated that an ereader wouldn’t feel like a real book. I would *love* the chance to convert him as well.

  70. I would love a new e-reader! I have a basic Kindle that is almost two years old….I could use an upgrade! ; )

  71. I would so appreciate winning an E-reader because most of my books are e-books and I miss reading in bed.

  72. When I was a teenager, I knew everything and had nothing in common with my mom. I stayed home sick for a week, was bored silly and my mom suggested I read “Dreaming” by Jill Barnett. I sat down to read it just so I could tell my mom she had no taste. That day I learned that reading romance was awesome, I didn’t know jack, and my mom is always right! She introduced me to Garwood(historicals), Woodwiss, and many other authors. My mother is reluctant to using technology but I’ve seen her eyeing my Kindle. I would love to win an e-reader for my mother so I can share with her this time.

  73. I’d love to have an e-book reader for my wife…she loves books but limited budget makes it harder & harder to get her a gift she’d enjoy the most…thanks for offering it up & hope I win 🙂

  74. I would like one for my daughter who is going to be 12, and she has just signed up at the library to read as many books as she can to win an ipad. Who knows, maybe this will encourage more reading, I’m hoping. Thanks again.

  75. To put it simply: I can’t afford to buy one at this moment. So that’s why I like to win an ereader.

  76. I would love a ereader so I could read all the great books that are digital only.

  77. My husband and I are avid readers. Actually, I’m pretty sure avid is a bit of an understatement. I keep a spreadsheet with the books we currently own on it and the last time it was updated we were up to 783. This list does not represent our audio book collection or the fact that we visit the public library on a regular basis. As much as I love the feel of a book in my hand, I knew it was better for our storage and the environment if we started considering e-readers. I recently got a Kindle Touch. I am loving it so far. I would like to win this giveaway, because I would like to now show my husband how nice an e-reader can be and that he can enjoy both his audio books and his print books on them. In addition to wanting to be an awesome wife in general ;), his birthday is the 24th and we leave for vacation at the end of the month. How awesome would it be to give him a new e-reader loaded with a couple of books that I know he wants to read as gift for his birthday, ready to go for vacation and the only cost to me was the books!!! As my husband is very budget conscious, surely I would win wife of the year for that!!

  78. Thank you Molly for this giveway! I would love to win the Kobo Touch for myself.:-) Need to join the 21st century and stop being afraid of technology. I would to be able to download books to an e-reader and have my own library available for plane rides and doctor appointments.

  79. I would love to win this for my oldest son who is starting high school in the fall.

  80. I promised my mom I’d get her an e-reader for Christmas, but then life got in the way, and I’m short on funds right now. 🙁

I want to make her happy, and an e-reader would be perfect, since she’s lost some mobility on her right hand and holding books is tiring for her.

  81. I would love to win this e-reader for my elderly mom and dad who are both life-long avid readers.

They mastered the TV remote control and the telephone answering machine, after just a mere decade or two of my coaching. I now find that I miss those harried telephone calls, often at the most inopportune moments, with one or both of them lamenting, “When I press that button you showed me, all I get is (fill in the blank).”

Frankly, I think gifting them an e-reader would bring us closer together once more.

  82. I would like to win an ereader for my mom because it would be a great birthday present for her since she loves to read and is something she can easily carry around with her while she’s picking up the kids or taking her parent to doctor’s appointments.

  83. I want an e-reader for me, please! My husband is taking me on our first cruise after 18 years of marriage and years of saving. We haven’t been on vacation together, alone with out the 4 kids since 2004. My husband is a disabled veteran with many, many health issues. Recently (the week before July 4th)he was in the hospital for an extended period of time and we are not going to have as much spending money as we planned. Short-term disability insurance is not what it is cracked up to be. We are now on a limited budget for our dream vacation. With airline prices as high as they are and the outrageous baggage fees, I have been told NO BOOKS on vacation. So tell me, how am I supposed to enjoy my vacation with no books? I know they are space consuming but I have to take a few or 10 with me, right? I love to read. I’m rarely without a book in my purse. I could easily read 5 or 6 books on our 7 day cruise.

My solution was to take an ereader. Simple, compact, lightweight and easy to slip into my purse or beach bag. I love my husband and I’m so proud of him for overcoming all the challenges he faces with his disability. I am not upset that the vacation fund is now depleted to include only necessities and I can’t buy an ereader as planned. Spending time with him is important to me and I would never let him know that I secretly pine for an ereader for this vacation. I would NEVER let him know that I wanted something that is now not possible because he was in the hospital again. He has enough challenges, enough disappointment in his own life with his health and I refuse to contribute to his stress on any level. I took the same vows that he did, including ‘in sickness and in health’ and I am with him all the way.

Thanks for the opportunity to explain why I’d like an ereader. Selfish as it might be, I rarely get to have fun things for myself. Plus it is super hard to read ebooks on my phone. It is just too small! Thanks 🙂

  84. I would love to win a e-reader for myself because it would be great to read books on and to have for school. It would be great to read in between classes and to have whenever I need it for classes, doctor visits, and when I’m on break.

    readingdiva@ymail.com

  85. I want to win this eReader for one of my best friends. She loves reading but her current circumstances doesn’t allow her to splurge on having an eReader. Even though e-readers nowadays are slowly becoming more affordable, it’s just something she can’t afford to get right now. So it’d super awesome if I can win it for her!

  86. Hi,
I am an ardent romance novel reader since from young days and younger days it was like hidden hidden from parents but after marriage read them at ease and so my hubby also teases me with the nickname romanier so a kindle reader would be awesome for me to read more and many novels. Cause now there are some novels which only come on kindle edition so would be able to devour them too.

    Thanks,
    Suja

  87. I would love to win this e-reader because I just had back surgery and I have a long road ahead before I will be back to normal, if I ever am. I think I will have a lot of reading time on my hands.

  88. I’m a chubby girl, who is driven by a ‘lil trashy reading at the gym. It is incredibly motivating and gets the heart rate up just enough to keep me running the last mile. I have worked very hard to achieve wellness and go to the gym 4-5 times a week. I’ve lost 40 pounds and ain’t stopping any time soon. I’ve been wanting a Kobo for months. Carrying the tiny pulp fiction around or flipping the pages of a huge 800 page mass market is not conducive to a focused workout nor enjoyable reading. A Kobo would resolve so much and keep the fire under my booty lit to keep the weight loss dream alive!
My time at the gym is my time with a book as well as time with the body. It is very important to me and preserves my centered and sunny disposition! I told myself I would figure out a way to get a Kobo when I met my next weight-loss goal but every time I think I saved up enough to make the investment, something comes up. Here I am, at a mile stone with all the hard work but no Kobo.
Thanks for reading and for your consideration.

  89. Like Molly, I have a great love for traditional books and the way they feel in my hands. But my paying job requires me to travel extensively and the weight restrictions on the airlines have gotten more restrictive (imagine that) as the years go by. A few year back, I broke down and bought an early model Kobo. It is my faithful companion on airplanes, in security line ups, in lounges and hotel rooms around the world.

I’d love to upgrade to a Kobo Touch, but I tend to hold on to these things until the eagle screams. If I won the contest, I’d give my first Kobo to my daughter for her reading pleasure and add a new traveling companion to my bag. The new ones have room for even more books, I hear!

  90. I would really like to win an e-reader so that I could take it to work for demonstration purposes. I work at a public library where we subscribe to the Overdrive system which allows our patrons to check out ebooks, audiobooks, music and movies online with their library cards. It would be awesome if I had a device to use to demonstrate the system to our patrons.

  91. I’d love to win this for my mom. She learned to read English recently. She already reads on a kindle, but finds navigating with the cursor tricky at times. I think she would really appreciate the touch interface to the dictionaries.

  92. My sister would love an e reader! I have one, and she liberates it every chance she gets. Her public library lends books in ebook format, which would be perfect for her–she lives in the country and isn’t old enough to drive, so she doesn’t get to the library as often as she would like.

  93. I still don’t own an ereader but I would like to get one one of these days, because there are so many books only in digital format that I would like to read.
Thanks for the very generous contest!

  94. Apparently it is time for the switch. Several books are only in digital format and would be easier storage wise. My girls continue to mock me and state I already own my own library. Thank you for providing your readers the oppurtunity to win an e-reader through contests. Best of luck and wishes;)

  95. I love my kindle. I think it would be fantastic to give my friend a kindle too. That way she can enjoy all the wonderful books that are only in ebook form. I know that are some many people on here that are hoping for ereader. I wish them all luck. I just figure I would give it a try to win one for my friend. I wish you all luck.

  96. My father needs something to do now that he is retired, other than spoiling his grandchildren rotten. An ereader is just the thing for him – he can adjust the font size so that he can read it easier than paper and he can read periodicals as well as books. This will get him out of my mother’s way and out of her hair as well, I’m sure. Help preserve my parents’ marriage! Give him the Kobo! Thank you!

  97. I have always wanted an e-reader but honestly the only way I will ever own one would be to win it. In 2005 I lost a baby girl to a genetic disorder. She was only sixteen months old. During the time my Anna was here we were in the hospital so much that my daughter Morgan thought it was just another home. She was three when Anna passed but she saved my life. She was the only thing that kept me breathing. When I found out I was pregnant last year I was so excited and terrified at the same time. My beautiful baby boy was born perfect and healthy. My husband and I talked about money and bills and he convinced me that we could make it on just his income so I could spend time with our children. It is so wonderful being a stay at home mom and even if it means not having all the extras that other people have. We have a roof over our heads and food in our stomachs and enough love to last a lifetime. It would be great to have an e-reader and I thank you for the chance at winning one. It’s so nice to know that there are people out there willing to make someone very happy with giveaways this wonderful. Good luck to everyone who enters!!!!

  98. I hope to win this one for a friend. Though, I’m kinda thinking now that having an extra ereader couldn’t hurt, I would still want this one for my friend that doesn’t have one yet. She has so many ebooks to read that friends have said they’d lend her and whatnot but no place to actually read them. She has limited amount on her sisters’ computers and her mom’s nook and I really just want to get her one that she can call her own and use it to her hearts content. I really hope I am lucky enough to win this one, or any one in this awesome contest. Thank you all for this opportunity!

  99. I want an e-reader for myself. here’s why:
    1) I love reading very much but the hard copies are costly for me to buy.
    2) So until last month i used to borrow books from one of my bestie as she had an awesome collection which keep on increasing but last week she moved out of state to a new place faraway from here to attend her college and i am left with no access to books.
    3) As for library there is not even a single library near my place and if by chance i stumble over any library they do not have any YA books only religious books… 🙁
    4) With not much money in hand I have last option of e-reader as e-copies are within my reach…
    5) I love to take books with me wherever i go but with no e reader i am restricted to one or two books… i use my computer to ecopies but could not carry them with me as i don’t have laptop… 🙁
    6) If i’ll have a e-reader all my money problems and book carrying problems will vanish away… I could not buy one for myself as where i live its too costly for me (due to our low currency rates). I could not even collect money as I could not work anywhere until i finish my studies and my pocket money is very less (in US $ its only $5).

thanks for this awesome chance to win an e-reader for myself… 🙂

    All the best Guys… 😀

  100. If I were to win I would give it to my 14 year old daughter. She has never really liked to read but recently started messing around with my Kindle and found herself reading some of my books. Now she is asking me if she can download a few her friends have read. I figure if an e-reader will get one more kid reading that I am all for it. Especially if that kid is mine because I am an avid reader and would love to talk to her about what we’ve read. Luckily she didn’t find any of my smuttier stuff and I’d like to keep it that way. She said she wants to be able to take it to school to read during A.R. time. Can you imagine the phone call I would get if a teacher found Fifty Shades or something similar? Oh dear…..I’d rather not go there.

  101. I would like to win this e reader for my mum.

At the end of her working life (about 20 years since she retired) computers were becoming common but she decided to be set against them (her excuse she could not read the screen with her bifocals) and she is still very technology resistant.

She rejects many paper books as the print is too small so if I could get her to give it a go I am sure I would have a convert.

If that does not work my 14 year old niece would be more than happy to receive it – more often instead of hello aunty Heather I get what books have your brought for me.

  102. I have a Kindle already but I would love to win an e-reader for my best friend. She’s as avid reader, when her husband lets her (jerk!) but can’t afford to get one for herself. Acutally, she’s the only person in her family that doesn’t get new things. Her husband is always buying for himself then telling her to figure out how to pay for it and her son is a high functioning autistic who loves his video games so any extra she has is for him. In order for her to be able to read when her husbands home she has to hide in the bathroom just to get a few minutes reading time.

I’m always talking about my Kindle and the different books I get for it that you can’t find in any of the stores where we live or they aren’t in print. She would love to have and e-reader because it would be easier to carry in her purse instead of a paper or hardback book.

She usually has to wait until a book shows up in a used books store before she can afford to get it because her husband thinks buying book is a waste of money. I buy her books and let her use my account at the used books store just so she can have something new to read. Several e-book sites offer free books that would save her even more money and I could help out by giving her gift cards that would go on her account to use when she wants. On the days that she does her bills and grocery shopping she could swing by here to use my internet and get whatever book she wants.

I think she really deserves an e-reader because she’s always doing things for her family, especially her son, and putting herself last.

    Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  103. I would love to win an e-reader for my mom. She just retired from teaching after 35 years. As a high school teacher, she spent all her free time prepping for her 120-130 students and grading papers. She rarely had time to sit down and read for pleasure. Now she has time. She can borrow any of my print books anytime, but she suffers from arthritis in her hands. I think an e-reader would be easier on her hands, and as she ages, the adjustable font sizes would be better for her eyes. Also, she lives in the boondocks, and bookstores are few and far between, so the ordering of books would be so much easier (and faster!) on an e-reader. Thank you so much for the chance to win.

  104. I love books. I like the feel of the pages beneath my fingers. I like the way they smell. I love the weight of them in my purse letting me know they’ll be there when I get a free moment.

I was adamantly against the e-reader. I love all things technology, but this? This was too far. NOT MY BOOKS.

And then I got an iphone. I made it a year before I downloaded any reading apps. And then I discovered the Kindle app. And the Nook app. And ibooks. And dear god, but do I love having books on my phone. Except for the whole battery drainage part.

So, I’d love to win the Kobo to give my poor, abused phone (and my eyes) a break.

  105. To be honest I don’t have an ereader. Although I eye them every time I see them on display, I have never gotten around to purchasing one. But now I must say that having an ereader at hand sounds marvelous especially when I’m running out of room in my house to keep my books. Winning this ereader would be fantastic and perhaps I could get my sister to start reading because she does not know what she’s missing.
I have purchased Can’t Buy Me Love and can not wait to syart reading it

  106. I am poor. I mean live with my mom even though I graduated college nearly 3 years ago poor. I second guess $2 purchases. I get ridiculously happy finding any sort of coinage on public floors. I wait FOREVER to buy a book b/c I have to find them half off or more or else, I just lustily stare at their full price stickers and (sadly, slowly with a glance or two over my shoulder) walk away. I was very reluctant to enter into the world of e-readers. Books smell so good! I can’t dog ear a page EXACTLY under the word I stopped reading if my book is electronic. I’d probably drop an e-reader on my face while reading in bed… The excuses were all there, but lately I’ve been dropping subtle hints to the boyfriend (Our 10 year anniversary is arriving fast. TEN FRIGGIN YEARS.) For example here is one such subtle hint: “I think I need a kindle. I have no more room for books and I want to keep them ALL.” or “I’m poor, I need a kindle because books on there are cheaper. [Insert loud sigh]”

Thank you so very much for this chance to expand my library without having to empty another drawer to fit just a few more books into my room.

  107. I’m in the market for my first E-reader and would look at this as a great introduction to them.

  108. Thanks for the great contest. I would keep the e-reader for myself. I love to read and am running out of places to keep my books. Also, instead of carrying around several books to read while I wait at places( like the doctor, mechanic, the park), I could bring the e-reader and my choice of several books and no one would be able to see what I was reading and question me about it.

  109. Maybe I want my own replacement Kindle–since mine is broken–but it’s for my sister that I’m entering this contest. Reading for many of us provides respite from our busy lives and busy minds, and my sis could use something special, just for her. She’s a new mom with a beautiful 2 month old girl. She’s on her own right now in her journey as a parent. She made her own family with this new little love. I love her and wish I lived in the same time zone as her, heck, down the street, so I could be there for her. But I settle for texting and skyping. It’s not nearly enough. If you decide to award me with an e-reader for her, it won’t be enough either. But it will be a small reminder to a new mom that she matters too in her 24-hour cycle of caring for a newborn. Her dreams, her needs, her wishes matter too. All new moms lose themselves a bit in that first year. I’m asking you’all to help me remind her of herself.

Secondly, When it comes to lessons in love, my sister’s taught me some of the most important ones. First, don’t hold back. Love can’t be measured out. Second, know that you deserve the same in return. And, maybe the best and bravest lesson of all: Never stop looking for love or stop believing you’ll find it. Above all, she teaches me to have faith. Faith in love. People like her shake their heads, not unkindly, at people like me who value control and making plans a little too much.

So, you see, she’s already my prize. But just now she’s an exhausted, single parent whose crazy in love with her baby girl, and I’d like to give her this prize as a small token for all she means to me.

  110. I want to win this for my husband. He currently has absconded with my ereader, and I want it back! If I win this contest, I’ll give it to the hubby so that way he can play with the new ‘toy’ and read his books, and I can go back to my ereader.
Also, thanks for doing this contest – it’s fun!

  111. WOW!!! I walked away from my computer for a few hours and look what happened! I am amzed and moved by your stories – it will be impossible to choose. Thank you so much for sharing all that you’ve shared!

  112. You know, for as badly as I want an e-reader myself (I am a voracious bibliophile, I own more books than clothes but most of my “library” has been in storage for the past 6 years, and the majority of my reads of the past two years are either borrows or book wins) I would love even more to give one to my hubby for everything he sacrifices for our family. He always, ALWAYS puts himself last in regards to needs (i.e. if my bangs are even remotely hanging in my eyes but all of his socks are fulls of holes and literally ready to fall apart in the next wash, he INSISTS upon my hair getting cut first even though he gets horrible skin problems on his feet from his shoes rubbing over exposed skin). We are a family of four existing on a single person income (not by choice, but by necessity as we have only one vehicle, cannot afford daycare, and we are living in our landlady’s finished basement because we honestly cannot afford our own residence) and my husband even donates plasma twice a week just so we are capable of getting all of our monthly bills paid. I am beyond thankful to God that we have all of our real necessities taken care of but I would love to give something back to my husband who gives 200% of himself for his family. It hurts me that I’ve never been able to buy him a birthday present, Christmas present, or Father’s day present yet he insists upon getting me gifts for birthdays, Christmas, and Mother’s day because he doesn’t feel right about NOT doing so. He used to have a fairly large hardcover collection during his previous marriage but his ex-wife sold them without his knowledge prior to the divorce and while we were able to replace them electronically (we have Kindle and Calibre apps on the PC), he cannot take them with him to donate plasma or to read on his breaks at work. I have a Kindle app on my cell phone (which he insisted upon me upgrading my phone when my old one finally died after almost 5 years of usage, yet he is still using his old cell phone that is almost as old as mine was) that I can use to read my downloaded books on and I subsist on the hundreds of free book downloads I have found on Amazon or other book sites. I would love to give him something that is just HIS to thank him in some small way for all of the things he sacrifices for his family! Thank you for the opportunity!

  113. I want to experience the joys of Touch Screen. The buttons on my Kindle keyboard are very tired of my fingers.

  114. I have a very special someone who I’d love to win an e-reader for someone that was the most inappropriate man I had ever met.

It was the height of the war in Vietnam and he was in the Navy stationed on an aircraft carrier and his job was to load bombs on airplanes – in a war zone! Not exactly a good safe place to be in the world! On the other hand he was kind, considerate and actually LISTENED to what I had to say!

Fortunately several months later he was transferred to a local Air Station and I saw him again. Sometimes you don’t realize how important someone is to you until they safely return to your world. We first met in May, 1969, married in February, 1970 and this year celebrated our 42nd anniversary.

Besides me, my sons and our grandchildren the thing my husband loves the most is reading – anytime, anyplace! I’d love to “Make His Day” and surprise him with an e-reader so he could have the books he loves stored and ready to read!

He’s done so much over the years not only for his family but in our community and for our country (after Vietnam he joined the Navy Reserves and was a “week-end warrior” for 25 years) and I’d love for him to realize how much that means not just to me but to others as well.

  115. This would be a gift for me! everyone I know either has an ereader already or prefers the traditional way of reading books… I like the traditional way as well, but like the idea of the convenience of an e-reader. I am an avid reader and the idea of something small enough to slip into my purse to read anywhere at anytime is a great one.

  116. I would love to win this E-reader Kobo for my 11 year old son. I could be selfish and say for myself however my son has informed me that he desperately needs an e-reader since I have taken all the space on the bookshelves with my books. He is an avid reader and we (myself, my husband and my son) are all currently sharing a Nook. I want to continue to encourage his imagination and reading and would love to have this for him. Thank you for the opportunity to win!

  117. I would love to win an ereader for myself! My Nook is in a sorry
state. I have one of the first gens and it has been awesome, however
its really taken a beating. I’ve clicked the page forward and
backward buttons so many times that they’ve cracked the frame and
my darling little demonesses just LOVE to get their paws on it any
chance they get (they steal my booklights too!) Well, let’s just say
the screen is cracked a little and I haven’t seen a booklight in the
last month. Anyway, thank you for the giveaway and the chance to win
a new one. I could really use it!

  118. I have an e-reader. I love my e-reader. I love it so much that I’m the only one allowed to touch it. I’ve reconsidered after seeing my son curled up with a book (in the middle of the floor in the family room!). Spencer was born with a cranio-facial abnormality that makes speech difficult. When one has trouble speaking, one usually has difficulty reading. It’s been a long, hard journey, but Spencer is making progress. Reading has always been a chore until this summer when he fell in love with Jeff Kinney’s Wimpy Kid books. I broke my rules & let him read a book on my nook. He loved it. Now, I want to share my e-reader with him but I’m 1) too selfish and 2) terrified to share my content with my 9 year-old son! So, winning this e-reader would benefit me doubly. Thanks for your consideration!

  119. A lot of good stories here, you have some reading to do Bev!

I would give an ereader to my mother in law. She loves to read (though not quite as much as I do). She bought her mother an ereader for Christmas, then her mother passed in Feb. It has been very hard for her, and even though she has the (kobo?) ereader she had given her mother she can’t bring herself to use it. So I would like to give her a new one. She can keep the other one for sentimental reasons, and read the crap out of the new one =)

  120. If I won the ereader I would want it for my twin sister. She is a young mom and both her and her husband are putting themselves through college on one income. Her day consists of studying, house chores and keeping up with a four year old boy, she never complains but I know she hardly gets a moment for herself. If she had an ereader I know she would love it! It would give her an avenue for relaxation and entertainment, she is one of the dearest people on earth to me and I would love to surprise her with a gift I know she could otherwise never afford.

  121. I have a first generation Kobo. It has served me well and faithfully. But I’m afraid it is dead now. *sniff, sniff* I would love to win a replacement. I have had a great experience with my old Kobo.

  122. My reason needs the backstory….
4 years ago I got sick. I was sick for a year (almost exactly to the day, actually). It took two surgeries and a lot of time in bed, but I did get better. During that year, I rediscovered reading. And boy did I read a lot!
About 8 weeks after my second surgery, I noticed that my foot was hurting. It took 8 more weeks and many tests to determine that I had broken my ankle. So, I had to start 4 months of very painful, time consuming physical therapy. It was during this time that I started to realize that hauling books around was difficult and somewhat painful on the neck and shoulders. I started saving for an ereader and decided I would get it for my 42 birthday.
I hemmed and hawed that I didn’t want to spend the money. My husband literally dragged me out and forced me to buy a Kindle. And I was hooked! HOOKED! I use the Kindle all the time. I love it.
My daughter now wants a Kindle. But, they are still expensive. I told her if I got another ereader, I would give her my old one. Unfortunately, I think my beloved Kindle is dying. It keeps freezing. The read out loud function keeps quitting. And the battery discharges at an alarming rate. I have started saving again but it’s going to take a while.
I would love to win this giveaway. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
This is the same story I posted at Smart Bitches but I had to add a comment. I agree with you, I love bookstores. I love the feel of paper reading BUT I love the convenience of my Kindle. I have switched my Amazon account to gift card only. That way I can’t overspend because buying books is so easy! The Kobo would be my daughter’s ereader because I am a Kindle addict. The other reason is because, at 11 she doesn’t have a credit card, so I could control her purchases much more easily than if she had a Kindle.

  123. I would love to win one of the ereaders for my grandmother. She turned 83 today and is going through treatment for cancer on her eyelid. The treatment could cause her to lose her sight in that eye. She already has difficulties reading some books, due to the print being too small, but she still loves to read. She is a strong lady, already a breast cancer survivor for over 15 years and I really hope that she is able to beat this without loosing her eyesight in this eye.

  124. I would love to win an ereader for my daughter. She has been reading on her smartphone, but the screen is so small for that…. an ereader would be so much better!!!
    Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

  125. I mostly check out books from the library…. When I do an ebook though I use my iphone… hello squinty eyes! I would love an actual e-reader! 🙂

  126. Have a kindle fire now and love it. I would like to win the sony for a friend who is a great reader is having a hard time now making it to the library.

  127. I would love to win an e-reader for my husband, as a surprise birthday present for him (well, a late one, as his birthday is today – he just turned 30). I might steal it from time to time, but shh. He’s not to know.

Neither of us have ever had, or used, an e-reader of any sort. Even my parents, techno-dinosaurs by self-admission, have Nooks, but for some strange reason neither my husband nor I ever got around to trying one out. Part of that has been cost: we are both graduate students, and a student budget just didn’t allow us to buy one. Part of it was also, I’ll admit, plain old print-book snobbery, at least on my part. On his part, it was file snobbery; he’s very tech-savvy, and very few of the e-readers he saw available offered the range of file formats that he desired.

We both travel a lot, both to visit friends and family (neither of us lives in our home country) and to go to conferences around the world. Theoretically, an e-reader would be fantastically useful compared to lugging about tons of books (which we invariably do. Every time). I think my husband would love to have the Kobo to experiment with, and I would certainly look forward to the challenge of converting myself to e-reading – at least in part!

  128. I want the eReader for myself, but so I can put it into use with others. I own an eReader and it is used very often and very well. I love it. But I am also a middle school teacher, and I would love to have an eReader in my classroom where my students can retreat for private reading time if they finish early. There’s such a good selection of ebooks for teens and many of the classics are free. I teach in a rural area that is low income so it is doubtful any of my kids have ereaders of their own, and this would be a great way to introduce them to reading electronically and hopefully spark a love of reading for them. I am planning on writing a grant application to buy several, but if I could win one, it would really start me off right. 🙂 Thanks for the opportunity!

  129. I’d love to win this for my husband. He bought me an e-reader for my birthday earlier this year and now is incredibly jealous of me. We’ve started working out several times a week, and he’s lost about 40lbs with 40 more to go (He seems to have reversed years of diabetes, yes! Now we’re working on reducing the risk of a second heart attack.) When we go to the gym I am too selfish to share my reader and he has to struggle with propping paper books on the little stand. I think he’d love to have his own and I think it would help him stay motivated to lose the rest.

  130. I would love to give my sister a e-reader for Christmas. I’d rather not say what she’s been going through. However it would be a very nice gift for her. Thanks.

  132. I want to win an ereader because that is the only way that I can afford to get one right now.

  133. I would actually like to win the eReader for my Dad. We got my Mom a Kindle for Christmas last year and she totally loves it. My dad wants one now! 🙂

My Dad graduated from college with his Bachelor’s Degree (in Information Assurance) this May (2012), and he is now working on his Master’s Degree. As an unemployed student myself, I didn’t get him a Graduation gift (and I feel kind of bad about it.) As a student, my dad has learned that e-textbooks are much cheaper than “real” textbooks. He has been reading them on his phone. People might wonder why I would enter my dad in a contest that would also win him Romance novels, but my dad likes to read. Period. If it is a book he’ll read it. If you leave a book on the coffee table and go to the store, it is unlikely that book will be where you left it, it doesn’t matter if the book is fantasy, romance, non-fiction or a technical manual! Therefore, I think he would enjoy the books as well! 🙂

  134. I would win this ereader for my mom. Her birthday is coming up and i want to get her something special. She’s really into touchscreen devices and this would be the perfect gift. I also feel bad when I have to buy her a birthday card with money she gave me and it would really surprise her if I gave her something like this this year. It would really mean a lot to her and to me as well.

  135. This is my final entry, and again,I would like to win one for my mum. Also an avid reader. The reason is simple. Lately she is struggling with her health, lots of tests, hopsital stays, time in bed at home. I can;t be there to help her (we live 500 miles apart) but I know she would love an eReader, but I can’t afford to buy her one. It really would save so much packing space and us having to rush and and guess what she would like. She would have whatever she wanted at the touch of a button so to speak 🙂

  136. My junior year I studied aboard for the full academic year in southern Spain, forcing me to pack my entire life into a single suitcase; a feat made more difficult by my propensity to sacrifice key items of clothing in favor of books. Ultimately I was only able to bring one book with me abroad: Pride and Prejudice.
Living with a Spanish family, surrounded by strangers and speaking Spanish 24/7, sometimes one longs for the familiarity of a good book with well-loved characters.
I plan on returning to Spain after I graduate in the spring, and unfortunately reverting to my previous book-less state.
Unless, of course, I had an e-reader.
Small, light weight, able to contain hundreds of books simultaneously with the ability of acquiring more books in the blink of an eye, it effectively circumnavigates all the issues I face earlier regarding bring books abroad.

  137. I would like my mother to have one. Her sight has really deteriorated and any book can be made a large prinbt book on an ereader.

  138. Since i have a habit of multiple book reading, i usually read at least 2 books at the same time. That’s why i’ve been dreaming of owning an e-reader. Unfortunately, in my country it cost quite a fortune and i can’t afford it yet. Now, my bed is full with my currently reading, i pilled my borrowed books on my table (the book shelf is over flown with books) and i’m having dilemma choosing which book to bring with me everytime i went out. Please help.. I need an e-reader

  139. Oh how I yearn to have a Kobo so I can READ MY OWN BOOKS! & all my friends’ favorites, too. I don’t earn enough $$ as an author yet to buy my own, since I’ve only published one historical romance, “Dark Horseman.” Now that “Lily of the West” is half finished, with 2 more on the launching pad, I’m desperate to see how they look on the small screen! You know what that means–if I win, EVERYBODY wins, because my books will be more beautiful & fun to read!

  140. I want an e-reader for myself. I’ve wanted one for a while, but I haven’t bought one.
Every time I go on a trip, from a weekend away to a month-long vacation, I always struggle with what books to bring. I need to bring enough books to keep me occupied, but not so many (or so large) that I can’t fit them in my bag. On longer trips this becomes an even bigger problem.
I spend a lot of effort debating over which books I want to bring, which ones I think I’ll want to read and how long I think it will take to read them. I hate running out of things to read almost as much as I hate lugging around piles of heavy books. It seems petty, but it takes a lot of time and thought to figure out what I should bring on each trip.
If I had an e-reader I could just bring everything! It would make travelling a lot easier and I wouldn’t stress so much about what I should bring.

  141. I guess I should join the 21st century now – there are more & more books that I’d like to read that are only in digital format. I’ve even won eBooks & had to decline since I don’t have an eReader & reading on my laptop isn’t comfortable.

  142. I would love to win an e-reader because I can’t afford to buy one. I am a 53 year old single mom of a 24 year old boy, I am very proud that I raised him very well. I always prioritize his needs because he is my treasure and I love him very much. He pushes me to read books and he told me that books fictional or non-fictional can inspire you to look life in a much better way, not only that, it can energize your mind by way of imagining things. It is so hard for me to read an actual book because of my poor eyesight, Haha i don’t even have the money to buy glasses for myself but this e-reader as my son always wanted to have one too and he explains to me one of it’s features like you can zoom things that you read, by that I don’t need to get reading glasses just to read stories. Please let me win. Thank you for the awesome chance! Godbless!

  143. I don’t currently have an e-reader, I didn’t really think I needed one, I loved my paperback books. However, due to a huge rainstorm yesterday in NYC (it was raining hail for goodness sake!), my basement flooded and my boxes of books along with the carpenting all got ruined! So sad right now. But maybe this was a sign from above to move on to an e-reader? If you choose me and I win the Kobo touch, I’ll truly start believing in a higher power.

  144. I have the basic Kindle, but am still working on figuring it out. If I won, I would give it to my oldest daughter. She works long hours and has a one year old. She is lucky to have a wonderful, understanding, and helpful husband both she and their daughter adore. An e-reader would be perfect for her. It is small enough to fit in the diaper bag or her briefcase. She is tech savvy and won’t have any trouble figuring it out. It will allow her to have something on hand to read whenever she has a free moment. With a new baby and medical bills due to her husband’s illness, there budget doesn’t allow for many extras, so I know she won’t be getting an e-reader for herself any time soon.
    Thanks for the giveaway.

  145. My first e-reader was a gift to me from my sister, and my goodness what a fabulous gift it was! It’s one of my most prized possessions and I never go anywhere without it. So if I win, I would like to return the favor and give this baby to her.

  146. Thank you so much for this great contest! We live in a house filled with books. My Mom taught me both the value and joy in reading at a very early age. As a kid who wore a back brace for scoliosis and wasn’t active, books were heaven sent!! I would give this prize to my Mom! We still share a love of books. The books may have evolved from G rated stories to beyond, but the love remains. My Mom and I have been thru so much together including the death of my little sister from cancer. My Mom never asks for anything for herself. She is currently going thru a horrible divorce and is preparing to undergo her third total knee joint replacement surgery. This e reader would be the perfect hospital and subsequent rehab toy. I want so desperately for my Mom to have a little peace these days. Maybe escaping into the worlds of the characters and stories in an e reader would bring her a much needed respite. Thank you for your consideration!

  147. This page is open on my daughter’s laptop, I saw it when I ask her to do something. It seems like she is planning to join the giveaway. I know why, She’s been bugging me to buy her an e-reader since her old one broke months ago. I know how much she loves to read, but with a tight budget I can’t afford to give her this time. I’m not sure if she submitted an entry already, so I decided to join, If ill be chosen I’ll give it to my daughter (no questions ask. :D) maybe this way I could still help her with one of her wishes come true. Goodluck to everyone. Everyone deserves to win and have an e-reader to read more comfortably anytime anywhere.

  148. I have an e-reader, which I love. I also have three sons who have inherited my love of reading. As a matter of fact, my oldest, who is entering the sixth grade is reading at an eight grade level. He absolutely loves to read! If I win this, I would be giving it to him, as a gift, since he is entering middle this August! Thank you and good luck to all!

  149. Thank you for such a wonderful contest. I have been reading since I was a child and diagnosed with dyslexia. When I finally learned to read correctly, it opened up a whole new world to me and now I teach that to my kids. My son has severe Apraxia so I am trying to teach him that so many things and places are possible with out saying words. This would greatly help with that, With the economy the way it is, I can not afford many things like this. Contests are wonderful and many books are free now and then with e readers. That would help me since I read every day :)..It allows me to be anywhere for a while ( love the magic of reading) ….Good luck to everyone
    Allie

  150. I don’t own an e-reader book and as someone who reads a ridiculous amount of books, I think I should have one already. I just haven’t picked one up because I am used to the comfort of a traditional book in hand. I would love one though and I would be very happy to win one .

  151. I have an early version of an e-reader by Sony and find that it is nearly impossible to read books on it. Since I have fellow writers with e-version on works, I’d like to be able to read their books without feeling the need to hurl my e-reader across the living room every time I power it up.

  152. I have a 14 year old son who saved his money from birthdays, mowing and christmas and bought himself a Kindle…this was about 2 years ago. Well, guess who has the most books on it? MOM(me) My poor son is terrified that he will be found out by his friends that he has romances on his kindle. So I would love to win this, so my son can have his.. um, dignity? and I can have my own e-reader!

  153. Thank you for offering this fantastic contest! I am absolutely in love with ereaders. I am a mother of 5 children, and in my house I have a Nook, 2 Kindles, and 2 Nook Colors. I love being able to load my children up with loads of books at all times and especially appreciate the ability to get a book for them when they are asking for one without having to make a trip to the store. It allows me to get whatever book they want into their little hands before they manage to be distracted by something on television or a video game.

Anyway, my best friend is an avid reader and has to travel frequently for work. She works in IT and is normally all about having the latest in technology or a new gadget, but for some reason she has been extremely hesitant to move to reading on an ereader. I know her well enough to know that once she picks up and tries it, she will be in love! (I have watched her fight with her paperback many times on the treadmill at the gym). I would LOVE to win this for her and bring her over to “the dark side”. We are good enough friends that I will even be able to tell her “I told you so”.

    Thank again!

  154. I love my kindle, but my newly college graduated daughter has no e-reader. So sad! I think she needs to be able to enjoy the wonderful world of e-books!

  155. Hi Molly! Have to agree completely with you. I will always love print books and browsing bookstores. However, I live in a small town. The nearest book store is 2 hrs away. Even the nearest Walmart is 30-45min away (and then the selections are quite limited and often times don’t have books I’m looking most for), so being able to get ebooks online whenever I want them no matter what they are is awfully convenient and super nice.

There are actually several reasons I’d really love and appreciate a new ereader. I won’t say that mine are better than any other reader via-ing for one. I had a kindle that finally an on its last leg end of the year… it was shared between myself, son, and mom so I think probably just couldn’t stand the stress of literally being powered on about 15 hrs a day :D.

I had planned on getting one for my mom and son for Xmas this past year but the company I was doing design work for downsized suddenly and their design budget – as well as my lively hood – was the first to be cut, so we had a very small Christmas (but was still good not complaining we were together and safe). Shortly after, I got really sick bills got behind etc. Things turned up got a new job in Feb, but PC went out in April. I am just now getting to get things back on track with a new pc, job – and designing book covers etc. for authors – so hoping for a great rest of the year.

I can live with reading on my PC and digging through book piles to find my dresser, tv, small dog… I’d like it most for my mom who has poor eye site and carpal tunnel syndrome which make reading print books difficult. Also for my son (13) who had just started developing a true/consistent love for reading and has been withdrawn a bit since he no longer is able to use one (by that I mean he was more talkative, more excited, shared his thoughts on the books and came up with scenarios of his own). He also relied on it for part of his schoolwork. He is homeschooled so we depend a ton on books… with the income change it is a blessing to be able to get ebooks to utlize.

Thanks so much for the chance to win and wishing you and the others a ton of new followers/readers!

    Pam S

  156. I am not a huge fan of ebooks because I want to touch the books, to smell the paper but I would really love to win an ereader for my sister. She has her birthday next week and I know how much she wants one. Of course with one condition that she will borrow it to me once in a while.
Thank you for the great giveaway!

  157. I would love to win an ereader for my husband so that I can stop carrying multiple books for him in the carry-on when we travel.  I’m a voracious reader, and I made the switch a long time ago.  Believe me, it’s much better to pack 1 Kindle than it is to pack 5 paperbacks for a trip, and then have to go out while on a trip to find a bookstore to buy more books!  Especially when you’re in a nonEnglish-speaking country!!  I would love for us each to have our own device.

  158. I don’t have an e reader yet but obviously I need one! I had no idea how many books were only coming out in “e” versions until very recently. I am unemployed so I can’t afford to splurge and buy one…in fact, I get a lot of my paperbacks from the local book swap shop so I don’t have to pay too much but I really enjoy them. With all the financial issues I’m dealing with, it’s nice to have a completely enjoyable escape valve!

  159. I must admit I desire an e-reader for purely selfish reasons and solely for myself. Once I got it (and one of those days I will win it in one of those competitions I keep entering and if not – buy. But maybe next year or a year after that) I do not intend to share. Well, maybe only with my youngest brother, who craves to read new books almost as much as I do. Almost. And he is already through most of the books from our nearest library. As am I – only those from another genre. Lately we have ridden to a more remote library, but it is rather new and not so well stocked yet. It will not take very long to read through the books it offers.

There is also a case of buying the books on paper. Here in Poland they are just too expensive. Being a poor student I simply cannot afford them. At least not as often as I would like to. As it is, my shelves are already full and new books after I read them have to go behind the bed – what a pity! I feel guilty for letting them lay in such a place. My owning an e-reader will put an end to the growth of my behind-the-bed-pile. New books will be neatly stored in it. Or not so neatly, judging from the files in my laptop. But nevertheless neater than they are today.

The next thing is my languages learning attempts. It is about five years now that I have started reading books in English (mostly e-books on my laptop or mobile to the endless suffering of my eyes and the batteries – another reason for an e-reader), and I have decided it is high time I return to studying German. I have had four-year break from it now and the first books read in this language is yet before me. I am sure I will not manage reading it in any other form than in ink (or e-ink, as it is). And the studying to be successful cannot end at just one book. Do you know how hard (and expensive) it is to come by a German book in Poland? Amazingly so.

Moreover, the e-reader will be so much easier to carry with me everywhere I go. I move around in the wheelchair and the weight of my bag must be kept to minimum. Being a bookaholic I have this urge to have a book I am currently reading with me all the time. One never knows when and where one will have a minute or two to have a break for a quick or a less quick read. Lately I was reading ‘North and South’ by Elizabeth Gaskell and I had to leave it home when going out – it was simply too heavy.

I hope I didn’t bore you to death with my essay (for me it looks like an essay, but my talkativeness got the better of me) and you will award me with and e-reader. I just want it so much!

    Greetings from Poland,

  160. I’ve been going to Amazon and getting the free childrens book for him because he feels so big when we read it off the kindle lol. But it’s hard keeping up with his books among all of mine. I hope to get him one for himself soon but I’m a single mother going to school and can’t afford one right now. I’m hoping with his own Kindle he will continue reading books and fine a strong love for books as I have!

  161. I would love to win this ereader! For a very long time, I was a rabid anti-ebook advocate. I could not fathom why anyone would want to read a book, but not be able to enjoy the feel of the paper against fingers, the unique book smell, and (let’s face it) being able to display it (and all the others!) in a bookcase.

Now, I have conceded. I still own over 1000 DTBs, and my absolute favorites are falling apart at the spine because I have loved re-reading them so often. I would love to have an ereader for a variety of reasons, the least of which is that I will not have to see my cherished book fall apart. (Handy, that.) Also, storing my books is getting to be a problem. Having a lot of books is not a bad thing; storing over 1000 is quite often an exercise in futility. Much to my dismay, I am in a position of having to give up my DTBs just because I no longer have the space. While I gave most of them to a local Children’s Hospital, I still mourn the loss. With an ereader, storage is not as much of an issue. Granted, the space is still finite, but not on the same scale. Ereaders can be carried everywhere, and most will store hundreds of books in the same amount of space as a magazine.
