Sarah Naylor use to be carefree and fun but life’s hard lessons snuck up on her and she had to deal with them. She made a promise to herself that she would live her again. She packed up from San Francisco and made her way to New York City with a friend to start her food truck business. Life is new and exciting for Sarah and it gets better once she strikes up a friends-with-benefits relationship with EMT, Tim Cannon.

Tim is always on the edge, ready for the next call of danger. He hardly has time to power down and just live. When the sexy food truck chef starts to feed him lunch on his breaks, he starts to slow down the pace to enjoy being with her.

While I normally like the author’s writing style, there was something missing with this book. The chemistry and cheeky banter was spot on. The author tends to write characters that are real and relatable to readers. Tim and Sarah are honest and are going through real life issues. I just wanted some conflict to occur. I think I just got the process of them starting a relationship but nothing else.

The sex is scorching hot and they are so competitive that they use bets as sexual leverages. I have to say that Sarah was on point and came out with the winning high most times.

I think I would have enjoyed this more if it was a little bit longer and the characters were more developed. I wonder what their life was like to shape who they were at the moment. Why were they drawn together?

Overall, I would still recommend this to fans who want a quick and steamy read…an Afternoon Delight!
