Charlotte Cunningham is a woman on a mission to save her sister. She doesn’t need any man and she is content guarding herself from heartbreak. However, she is failing at succumbing to Patrick MacGregor’s charming rogue ways.
Patrick MacGregor finds himself in a tricky situation. He doesn’t want anyone to find out his true identity since his family has a long list of enemies. He plays it real dangerous when he meets Charlotte.
Of course, the novel is well written but there are some minor plot issues that left me wondering why the author failed to close up the gap. There is an issue with the circumstances surrounding some of the past characters from previous books when revelations are revealed. There was no explanation to how everyone felt once a secret was revealed.
Patrick and Charlotte are charismatic characters. They banter and easy flow between help to get through some of the stifling inner dialogue. Of course, I love that Charlotte is strong in her own ways like many of the female character Ms. Quinn writes about. She doesn’t fall all over Patrick and they find themselves building a cute friendship.
Once his true background is revealed to her, all hell breaks loose and tension brews. They still can’t fight the temptation. Despite the minor quirks, fans of medieval historical romances will enjoy this easy, light read.
